WHO WAS HERON ?

Hero of Alexandriawas a
Greekmathematicianand
engineerwho was active in
his native city ofAlexandria,
Roman Egypt. He is
considered the greatest
experimenter of antiquity[1]
and his work is
representative of the
Hellenisticscientific tradition.

ABOUT HIS EARLY LIFE AND WORK:Heron of Alexandria who born in 20 AD . He

specialized in the fields of mechanics, mathematics

and physics representing the works of the Hellenistic
tradition in Science. It is said that his career started
with teaching at theMuseumhowever his
achievements as an inventor are most noteworthy .
The Aeolipile was one of the first steam engines
created centuries before the actual industrial
revolution. Heron was also the first to make a
machine that operated with awind wheel..

WHAT WAS HERONS FORMULA?

His formula was basically to find the area of the

triangle . The picture below illustrates the general
formula where S represents the semi-perimeter of the
triangle:-
