Abstract
Many industrial applications require variable speed motor
drives and to switch a DC motor ON or OFF so it requires careful
attention of the operator to ensure effective production. Whenever
sequential control and automation is required, PLCs are best suited
to accomplish this task. In this project, a DC motor is controlled
using programmable logic controller(PLC). The main advantage of
using DC motors in today's world is the ability to easily control the
speed of the motor. This approach is based on providing a variable
DC voltage to armature circuit of dc motor from a fixed dc supply
voltage via PLC, it is implemented using the software AC31GRAF.
It is easy, fast and effective method of control to vary motor speed.
