CALABARZON

Calabarzon formally known asSouthern


Tagalog Mainland and designated
asCALABARZON Region, is anadministrative
regionin thePhilippines. The region comprises
fiveprovinces:Cavite,Laguna,Batangas,Rizal,
andQuezon; whose names form
theacronymCALABARZON. Its regional center
isCalambainLaguna.
Situated just south ofMetro Manilain
southwesternLuzon, the region is the most
populous in the Philippines, having 14,414,774
inhabitants in 2015, and is also the country's
second most densely populated.Prior to its
creation as a region, Calabarzon, together
withMimaropa, formed the historical region
known asSouthern Tagalog, until they were
separated in 2002 by virtue of Executive Order

Calabarzon has a population of


14.4 million people, the largest of
all the regions in the Philippines.
The population growth rate
between 2000 and 2010 of 3.07%
decreased from the growth rate
between 1990 and 2000 of 3.91%,
a trend which coincided with the
rest of the nation. Life expectancy
for men in Calabarzon is 68.9
years and 75.2 years for women.

A vast majority of people living in Calabarzon


areTagalogs. It is estimated that around 5.8
million Tagalogs live in Region IV-A.Taal, in
particular, is considered the "Heartland of
Tagalog Culture" and is currently the present
"center" of Tagalog culture and people.
Calabarzon is also home to a sizable amount of
people withChinese andSpanishancestry on
account of Chinese immigration and Spanish
colonialization, respectively. Because of this
large majority of Tagalog natives, the majority of
people living in Calabarzon also speak the
Tagalog language.Filipino, being a version of
Tagalog, is also predominant in the
region.Englishis also commonly spoken
throughout Calabarzon and is the language of
business and education. In Cavite,Chavacano,

Mimaropa, formally known as theSouthern


Tagalog Islands,is anadministrative regionin
thePhilippines, designated as MIMAROPA
Region. It is one of two regions in the country
having no land border with another region, the
other beingEastern Visayas. The name is
anacronymcombination of its
constituentprovinces:Mindoro (divided
intoOccidental MindoroandOriental
Mindoro),Marinduque,RomblonandPalawan.
Tagalogis widely spoken in the region. In
Marinduque, the language is spoken with a
unique blend ofBicolanoandVisayan languages.

comprises sixprovinces, four on theBicol
Peninsulamainland (the southeastern end
ofLuzon) Albay,Camarines Norte,Camarines
Sur, andSorsogon and the offshore island
provinces ofCatanduanesandMasbate.
The regional center and largest city isLegazpi
City, Albay.The region is bounded by theLamon
Bayto the north,Philippine Seato the east, and
theSibuyan SeaandRagay Gulfto the west. The
northernmost provinces,Camarines
NorteandCamarines Sur, are bordered to the
west by the province ofQuezon.
