tools to manage items such as user
accounts and software licenses.
10
Vista
Used to build and display graphical representations of a power
monitoring system for use in both Vista and the Web client (Diagrams).
Default device diagrams display
real-time and historic data using
visual and interactive objects.
Setup diagrams are included to
configure logging, power quality,
alarming, etc.
11
Designer
Used to perform a wide range of functions:
Configure setup registers of physical PowerLogic ION power meters
ION7350
ION7650
ION8650
etc.
12
Web Client
Primary user interface of the Power Monitoring Expert system.
Displays real-time, historical information and alarms in a single user
interface:
Accessible anywhere on the network
Most commonly used in day-to-day power management tasks.
The Web client is a thin client and connects to the Power Monitoring
Expert server via web browser.

Dashboards
Allows the user to visualize past and present energy usage in
meaningful graphic representations called gadgets.
Gadgets are used to display all historical WAGES measurements in an
intuitive and interactive workspace.
Dashboards can also be enabled
to run as an autonomous
slideshow for display in the main
entrance of a facility.
17
Diagrams
Enables Vista user diagrams to be displayed in a web browser.
Multiple users can access and
display diagrams created in Vista,
without installing additional software.
18
Tables
Allows the user to view real-time data in large, tabular format.
There are default tables for
immediate use or modification.
New tables can easily be created
and shared to display any real-time
data for any number of devices.
19
Trends
Allows you to monitor current system conditions by displaying real-time
and historical data in a graphical format.
20
Alarms
View all system events and meter alarms in a single, unified place.
Device alarms are separated into low, medium and high categories for
faster classification for acknowledgment by the users.
Views can be customized to filter for specific alarms on certain devices.
21
Reports
Define, generate and manage comprehensive reports, based on
information contained in the databases.
Power Monitoring reports have
been designed for
energy consumption and usage,
power quality compliance
generic system usage.

Architecture Types
A Power Monitoring Expert system contains many components, but can
only be installed in one of two methods:
Standalone installation
Distributed Database installation (optional; based on specific requirements)

Standalone Architecture
The simplest type of Power Monitoring Expert architecture is called
"standalone", where one computer hosts:
Power Monitoring Expert software (configuration files, communication
services, Web client server, a connection to SQL Server databases, etc.).
Microsoft SQL Server to host historical databases for logged data.

Computer Roles
In a standalone architecture there is only one server:
the Standalone / Primary server.
In a distributed database architecture there are two servers:
the Primary server and Database server.

Database Server
Due to specific customer requirements, an independent server can be
used to host the Microsoft SQL Server engine, which is called a Database
server.
Used in conjunction with the Primary server and is referred to as a
Distributed installation.
