WASTAGE OF FOOD

to be used. Various political organizations and entities have their
own definition of what constitutes food waste. The causes of wasted
food are numerous, and occur at the stages of production,
processing, and retailing.

Reasons of Wastage of Food


Cooking or preparing too much - for
example cooking too much rice or pasta
and it gets left in the saucepan or on the
plate.

We don't know how to use up our leftovers.

In Restaurants and Marriages we order more food than


our requirement, that is wasted afterwards.

Causes of Wastage of food

Limits of the technology used to conserve products, namely


fresh products
Damage to the product and food packaging during
transportation and storage
Inadequate professional training of sales staff, who dont
always display the food appropriately on the shelves, and
dont perform proper stock rotation procedures

Control of weed and


harmful insects in
fields.

We should buy only

consumed or kept
safely.

of food, fruits

vegetables.

We should not
waste food in
functions
