Weakness: Authenticity

Definition
A form of assessment in which
students are asked to perform realworld tasks that demonstrate
meaningful application of essential
knowledge and skills -- Jon Mueller

The test is not authentic as the pupils

only simply recalling what have they
read without applying what any skill in
the test. The test is merely testing
pupils memorization. Students should
be learning and practicing how to apply
important knowledge and skills for
authentic purposes. Working on
authentic tasks is a useful, engaging
activity in itself; it becomes an "episode
of learning" for the student (Wolf, 1989).

So, they should not simply recall information

but they should apply what they know to new
tasks. The test is not authentic as the pupils
only simply recalling what have they read
without applying what any skill in the test.
The test is on sequencing but then, it is not
authentic as it is being taken from the British
Council Website. The teacher should adapted
the worksheet to make it more authentic. The
test is more toward traditional assessment.

Authentic assessments typically do not

lend themselves to mimicry. There is
not one correct answer to
copy.However, the test conducted by
the teacher in the group work provide
mimicry as the passenger just mimic
the answer from the other group
members without contributing
anything.
