Foreign Trade Act Origin.

Also called as The Foreign Trade (Development


and Regulation) Act,1992.

Received The Presidential assent on the 7 th of


August,1992.

Was brought into existence for the development


and regulation of foreign trade by facilitating
imports into and promoting exports from India.

Directorate General Of Foreign


Trade.

It is an organization, which is an attached office


of The Ministry Of Commerce and Industry.

Its headed by The Director General Of Foreign


Trade.

Is responsible for implementing Foreign Trade


policy and its main objective is to promote
Indias Exports.

Foreign Trade Policy 2015-2020.

It provides a framework for increasing exports of


goods and services as well as generation of
employment and increasing value addition in the
country.

Introduces two new schemes:


1)Merchandise Export From India
Scheme(MEIS).
2)Service Exports From India Scheme (SEIS).

Foreign Trade Policy 2015-2020.

Merchandise Export From India Scheme(MEIS),


is introduced for export of specified goods into
specified markets.

Service Exports From India Scheme (SEIS),is


introduced for increasing exports of notified
services.

There would be no conditionality to the scripts


issued and is fully transferable.

Incentives available for MEIS and SEIS to be


made available for SEZs also.

Status holders : Business leaders , who have


excelled and contributed to the countrys foreign
trade to be recognized as status holders , which
would reduce transactional costs and time.

Approved Exporter Scheme-Self Certification


For Status Holders : Manufacturers who are also
Status Holders will be enabled to self-certify their
manufactured goods as originating from India.

Paperless trade in 24x7 environment

Simplification of procedures/processes,
digitization and e-governance .

Facilitating & Encouraging Export of dual use


items .

e-Commerce Exports

Duty Exemption-In order to encourage


manufacturing of capital goods in India, import
under EPCG Authorization Scheme shall not be
eligible for exemption

Additional Ports allowed for Export and import


-Calicut Airport, Kerala and Arakonam ICD, Tamil
Nadu

Duty Free Tariff Preference (DFTP) SchemeIndia has already extended duty free tariff
preference to 33 Least Developed Countries

Quality complaints and Trade Disputes-Chapter


on Quality Complaints and Trade Disputes has
been incorporated in the Foreign Trade Policy to
resolve quality complaints and trade disputes
between exporters and importers.
