Saving the Dharamsala

Project

The Triund Mountain Camp needs you

Why are we appealing for help?

Despite years of hard work we can no longer afford to
fund our waste management project in Dharamsala.

We have collected and processed

over
980 tonnes of waste from
Bhagsunag and Triund since
August 2012.
If we cease to work in these
areas, the results will be
devastating!

WHAT DO WE DO,
THATS SO IMPORTANT?

Triund Waste Collection & Hike

Every Monday 10am Onwards

Triund Mountain Camp around 10,000 visitors per

month
Volunteers help us to pick up the garbage on the trail
and segregate the waste at each chai shop on the way to
Triund
After reaching Triund, waste is collected, segregated and
bagged up from an additional 9 Tea Shops and Guest
Houses

Waste is transported back to Bhagsu with the help of

mules

Triund Waste Collection has increased from 11,520 Kg

to approx 18,057 Kg (2015 -2016)

Total number of journeys made by the mules has

increased from 256 to 402 per year

Bottles bought down from Triund from Sept to Dec 2015

alone

We have re-usable drawstring bags for recyclable & nonrecyclable waste

We provide proper equipment to all of our volunteers and

staff

WASTE COLLECTION
Since August 2012 we have
been providing a waste
collection service in
Bhagsunag
We employ 5 Green Workers
who collect, carry, segregate
& dispose of waste from 180 200 houses, hotels, guest
houses and cafes
Average amount of waste
collected per month is
approximately 27,000 Kg
(2015 - 2016)

We have placed dustbins around

the town to ensure proper waste
disposal. We also empty
dustbins installed by others, 42
in total. The dustbins are
emptied everyday by the Green
Workers.

Waterfall Cleanup

Every Thursday 10am onwards

Bhagsu Waterfall is a
major Tourist
Attraction

Volunteers join our

team and together we
collect the waste
found on the trail
towards the waterfall
as well as from the
stream coming down
from the fall

The waste collected

from here has
increased from 5800
kg to almost 7200 kg
(2015 2016)
