LIFE STAGES PROJECT

Sheridan Ambrocio and

Kyra Cole

INFANCY (BIRTH-1 YEAR)

Physical: Infants usually double their weight in
the first half of a year of being alive. They usually
grow about to 1 inch per month.
Mentally: They follow instincts for food, air, and
water.
Emotionally: Starts crying and smiling to show
emotion.
Social: Starts learning how to communicate with
others to get what they need/want.

EARLY CHILDHOOD (1-6)

Physical: These children usually gain the
ability to walk smoothly after learning how to
crawl. Their limbs grow longer, and the
abdominal muscles start to form.
Social: At this age, children usually learn how
share and how to cooperate with other
children through playing.
Mental/Cognitive: Children can learn how to
problems solve and make more judgments by
playing with others.
Emotional: learn how to control emotions

LATE CHILDHOOD (6-12)

Physical: During this age, girls usually experience a
small growth spurt at age 9 or 10, and boys usually
experience a growth spurt around age 11 or 12. Their
brains grow by ages 8 and 9 by a bit. Most baby teeth
are gone.
Mental/Cognitive: Long-term memory will start
increasing during this age and they also start to have a
higher attention span. They can also start understand
more abstract situations and like to be challenged.
Emotional: Learn what emotions are and how to control
them better
Social: Start to enjoy others company especially kids
of the same gender and age. At this age, children may
show off to gain attention

ADOLESCENCE (12-18)
Mental/Cognitive: Adolescences start taking on more
abstract thoughts and ideas than they used to.
Emotional: Start showing stronger and more intense
emotions and feelings about what goes on in life, and they
become more sensitive to other peoples emotions.
Social: Start to spend more time with friends than parents.
At this stage, adolescences start becoming more influenced
by other people, also.
Physical: Many have late growth spurts at this age.

EARLY ADULTHOOD (19-40)

Social: Around this age, they start going to college,
get married, and have to learn how to live on their
own. If they move away from where they used to live,
they have to become more social to meet new friends
and start a new life.
Physical: Muscles are developed.
Mental: Decide what you want to do with your life
(college, career)
Emotional: Learn how to become independent and how to start understanding what your
successes are, and why some things dont turn out the way you want them to.

MIDDLE ADULTHOOD (40-60)

Emotional: Many have dramatic self-doubt and anxiety, which
many people know now as mid-life crisis. They reassess their
relationships and make adjustments in areas that they do not
really like.
Physical: Hairline begins to thin out and skin begins to
winkle.
Social: Start to define themselves through family and through
their relationships with other people. This is usually a bit less
stressful for parents though because their children are growing
older and dont need to worry as much.

LATE ADULTHOOD (65+)

Emotional: As people enter this stage in life, they become more
dependent on others again, which can lead to shame because they
cannot take care of themselves that well again. Once friends around
their age start passing away, many adults in this stage start feeling
lonelier and isolated, which can lead to bad health including depression.
Physical: Dry and wrinkled skin due to loss of elasticity. Bones are
starting to break and arthritis begins to occur in many people. Vision
and hearing start declining.
Mental: Memory loss increases and many start having serious mental
diseases (Alzheimer's and Parkinson's)
