to support Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital's endeavors
to eradicate preventable Childhood Blindness from our
country.

Healing and Hope for Kids

RMHC (Ronald McDonald House Charities) UK was established in
1989. It is one of a network of RMHC 'chapters' operating in 52
countries throughout the world, providing services to support the
wellbeing of children and families.
Most of McDonald charity work is focused on supportingRonald
McDonald House Charities, an independent charity which
McDonald's has supported for over 20 years.
McDonalds customers also support RMHC through a variety of
fund raising events and programs, including donations in RMHC
collection canisters and McDonalds World Childrens Day a global
fundraiser that takes place each November.
The Charity relies on voluntary donations, and you can find
collection boxes in every single one of McDonald restaurants.

from home' for families with children undergoing treatment
in hospital. McDonalds Corporation provides free use of
facilities, equipment, materials and other general and
administrative costs for the global office of RMHC.

Coordinated by Ronald McDonald House Charities Brazil,
McHappy Day is Brazil's largest fund raising campaign
to combat pediatric cancer. Since 1989, it has raised
$80 million.
All proceeds from the sales of Big Macs, plus

centers, medical care facilities and support houses, and
the implementation of bone marrow transplantation
units.

In the U.S, RMHC of Austin and Central Texas opened the first
Platinum Leadership in Energy and Environment Design
(LEED) certified Ronald McDonald House in the world.
To promote good environmental practices, educational kiosks
were placed inside the House to explain how the solar panels
contribute to the buildings energy efficiency.
In 2008, Atlantas 50-room Ronald McDonald House became
the second House built and certified to LEED specifications.
The House includes a dedicated transplant wing with 10
private, two-bedroom suites for families of children who have
received bone marrow, heart, liver or kidney transplants.

Education

McDonald's Australia funds a touring puppet showthe

McDonald's Camp Quality Puppet Programto educate
school children about cancer, its treatment and its effects.
Originally created to facilitate the return to school for
children who had been treated for cancer, the show now
seeks to increase understanding and acceptance of children
who, for various reasons, look different from others.
It has visited approximately 10,000 schools, restaurants and
hospitals and reached more than 3 million children.
Many McDonalds U.S. restaurants host McTeacher Nights to
support their local schools.

McDonalds Global Environmental

McDonald's will follow three courses of action: reduce,

reuse and recycle.

McDonald's also committed to recycling or composting

as much of McDonald's solid waste as possible,
including such materials
as
corrugated paper, polyethylene film and paper.
McDonald's will change the composition of
packaging, where feasible, to enhance
recyclability or compostability.

Continued.

McDonalds uses an internal global scorecard tool called

the Eco-Filter to help McDonalds make packaging
decisions while keeping the environment in mind.
Over time, McDonalds have made changes aimed at
reducing the amount of packaging and increasing use of
recycled materials.
Recycling customer waste is very difficult in the UK, as
paper waste that has food residue is not accepted at
recycling facilities, and nor are many types of plastic.
So rather than send waste to landfill McDonalds work
hard to 'recover' as much as possible.

Global Reach, Global Impact

McDonalds has a long history of sponsoring global events

that create strong, relevant connections with their
customers everywhere.
From 1968, McDonalds continued as official sponsors of
two global sports events the Olympic Games and the
FIFA World Cup that enrich the lives of children and
adults alike through inclusion and awareness.
The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games marked McDonalds
sixth Olympic Games as a Worldwide Partner and seventh
as the Official Restaurant of the Olympic Games.
McDonalds current sponsorship
will continue through the 2012
Games in London.

National Football Associations to increase the number
of qualified coaches for schools and communities.
McDonald's New Zealand sponsors two national
organizations to promote youth participation in sports.

Canada's number one sport.

HUL's Water Conservation and Harvesting project has

two major objectives:a) to reduce water consumption in its own operations
and regenerate sub-soil water tables at its own sites
through the principles of 5R -- reduce, reuse, recycle,
recover and renew.
b) help adjacent villages to implement appropriate
models of watershed development.
Water scarcity is one of the biggest crises facing India in
terms of spread and severity.
Water conservation and harvesting in HUL's own
operations will help conserve and regenerate this scarce
resource.

Continued.
Water management is a focus area for all HUL
factories. Water conservation has been made one
of the key performance indicators of an HUL
factory.
Through a series of technology innovations and
novel processing routes HUL has reduced its
ground water consumption by over 50%.
HUL has also applied technologies that recycle
effluent water after treatment 70% of HUL sites
are now zero discharge sites.

Continued.
The Khamgaon soap factory is located in a dry and
arid region of Maharashtra and gets limited rainfall.
Seven years back the factory started a pilot on
Watershed Management on a 5-hectare plot to
prevent soil degradation and conserve water.
The efforts have resulted in the creation of a green
belt, which is the only visible green patch in the area.
