Tunja Boyac, Colombia:
It was founded on August
7 in 1539 by Gonzalo
Suarez Rendn. This is
the best place to live in
Colombia. Tunja is the
Capital of the Boyac
department. It is an old
and cold city, is one of
the smallest capital of
Colombia however it has
very important touristic
places because Tunja was
one of the most
important cities in the
Colonia time.

LEGENDS
Hunzahua lagoon
It was one of the
holiest lagoons of
Chibchas, was called
Pozo de Donato in
colonial epoch. It is a
small lagoon with
cold waters that run
by Tunjas subsoil. It
is located to the north
of Tunja city in the
university campus,
and it is one3 of the
most important
places from the city.
LEGEND OF HUNZAHUA
Hunzaha, the Muisca leader who founded Hunza
(Tunja), fell in love with his beautiful sister Noncet,
much beloved by her people. During a journey, they
consumated their love and became husband and wife.
When their mother, Faravita, discovered the act, she
beat Noncet with the chicha-making paddle. The
chicha urn broke, spilling its endless contents, thus
forming this little lake now known as Pozo de Hunzaha.
For the Muisca, it was a holy place; gold was offered to
its depths. Their leader Quemuenchatocha ordered all
gold and emeralds to be thrown in, to save them from
the avaricious Spanish conquerors. An early colonizer,
Jernimo Donato, had the pool drained to retrieve the
treasure--but to no avail.

In Tunja there are a great variety of dishes, but the most
special food you will know on Thursdays in a place
called Runta. There you can enjoy typical food like:
Soups: Cuchuco corn, wheat cuchuco pork backbone,
Changua, lamb testicles soup, bread soup, Stew
Boyac, rice covered, head and lamb stew, cooked
peasant grilled lamb chops, pork chops, porridge small.
Desserts: Curd Cake, sponge cured, roasted plantains,
apple pie.
Arepas, almond biscuits, guiros, empanadas fig, cassava
bread, Inga, suck Creole potato wrapped cob, sausage,
potatoes dripping and many othersHuuuuummmmm!
