It is known that morocco is a mix
of 3 ethnicities African ,Arabian
,Saharian, thus a cultural mash-up
has taken place ,adding to the
beauty of morocco and its cultural
impact on its population and other
countries . therefore it is normal that
this country would have 3 different
specimen of anything and everything
from clothes ,to food, to rituals.
Where is the diversity?
The diversity of this country lies in how
differently things are done from a place to
another, a region to another . which is one of
the quality that makes morocco distinguished
among other countries.
Among the domains which the Moroccan
cultures says diversity we find :
1. Marriage
2. Clothes
3. art
marriage
marriage is defined as the legally or
formally recognized union of two
people as partners in a personal
relationship.
And in every country it takes a
different from, within things like
rituals and traditions.
As for Morocco, the diversity of its
culture is widely reflected on its
marriage rituals.
Moroccan marriage
Marriage in amazigh culture is a very
important event, therefore everyone is happy
for the bride giving her the best wishes of
happiness with her life partner, and its a
celebration that mostly celebrates the bride
more compared to the groom, and it could
take from 3-7 days of celebratory ceremony.
and it also differs from a place to another
,such as imilchil where we find that the
marriage is an annual festival and so on.
Moroccan clothes
The traditional dress for men and women is called djellaba; a
long, loose, hooded garment with full sleeves. The djellaba has a
hood that comes to a point called a qob. The qob protects the
wearer from the sun or in colder climates, like the mountains, the
qob keeps in body heat and protects the face from falling snow.
For special occasions, men also wear a red cap called a
bernousse, more commonly referred to as a Fez. Women wear
kaftans decorated with ornaments. Nearly all men, and most
women, wear (balgha )soft leather slippers with no heel, often
dyed yellow. Women also wear high-heeled sandals, often with
silver or gold tinsel.
The distinction between a djellaba and a kaftan is the hood on the
djellaba, while a kaftan does not. Most womens djellabas are
brightly colored and have ornate patterns, stitching, or beading,
while men's djellabas are usually plainer and colored neutrally.
