artist.
A painting is a unique work of art that is created by an artist. Paintings are lovingly
crafted through hours of labor and planning. The end result is beautiful. This is similar
to a teacher spending an extended amount of time to lovingly plan and craft their
vision for their classroom. Just as paintings are a labor of love, teaching is also a
labor of love as teachers must work hard to implement their ideas and blend these

the teachers tools. Layers of learning are
applied and blended into the learners experiences just as layers of paint are applied
and blended to a canvas in order to create a beautiful work of art.
The final result is a timeless piece that is to be admired and reflected upon
throughout the learners academic journey. Just as the viewer reflects upon a
work of art and interpret its meaning, students can reflect upon their year and
Rationale
The Teaching is like a painting incudes each model of teaching, information-
processing, behaviorism, constructivism, and social-learning theories. All of
these learning theories are blended together into the painting, to create a
synthesis of their big ideas.
The painter is the teacher. Sometimes artists collaborate together on works
of art just as teachers must work collaboratively when implementing
curriculum.
The students make up the different colors of the painting. It is the job of the
artist, or teacher, to guide them into blending together when working
together, creating friendships and becoming independent learners.
Sometimes paintings become a labor of love and the final picture becomes
hard to see. Sometimes, despite planning, the painting deviates from the
vision and becomes its own entity. This can also happen in the classroom.
The artist and teacher must not be disheartened as the final product will still
be beautiful if they continue to invest their time into developing the piece.
Our learning goals are the layers of paint that are added onto the piece over
time to create value and deeper levels of understanding.

If students and educators are diligent and work to blend together, they will
create a beautiful work of art that is unique and valuable. This work of art
can be reflected upon and learned from as the learner advances through
their academic journey.
