Bilateral Tubal Ligation is a surgical
procedure aimed to achieve permanent
sterilization/permanent contraception.
Under anesthesia (you will be put to
sleep) your doctor will make a small cut
on the abdomen just below the navel.

Bilateral : on both sides
Tubal ligation : your fallopian tubes will
be blocked to prevent fertilization of the
egg and prevent the eggs from reaching
the uterus. Thus preventing pregnancy

and you will not be able to get
pregnant/have any children in the

BTL does not protect you from STDs

There is a 1 in 200 possibility that you can
get pregnant again
If you do get pregnant there is a high
possibility it will be a pregnancy in the tube
(Ectopic Pregnancy) which will have to be
removed with medicine or surgery

Hormonal imbalance that may require
medical treatment if damage to ovary blood
supply
Back flow of blood during menstruation can
cause pain

uterus was affected
