Fuel Gas system
atural gas system has two function :
ntrol mass flow of natural gas into the GT Combustion
mber.
uts off the flow of natural gas to the gas turbin under
in condition.
turbine fuel system supplies fuel to the combustion
r based on the power output required of the gas turbi
al gas supply system must be propided upstream
atural gas system to ensure that natural gas is availab
uantity required to meet operational demand.

Natural gas strainer

Natural gas strainer MBP11AT001 is located at

the upstream terminal point of supply. Its task is
to prevent the ingress of any coarse foreign
matter which may be present in the piping.

ilot gas flow measurement

A device is installed downstream of pilot gas
control valve MBP23AA151 for measuring and
recording pilot gas mass flow data
(MBP33CF101). The amount of pilot gas supplied
has a mayor impact on the humming of the gas
turbin

atural gas pressure relief valve

The natural gas pressure relief valve is part of the

gas lock and permits depressurization of the
piping sections between first

Natural gas Emergency Stop Valve (first

Its functionElement)
Shutoff is to enable or block the flow of natural gas to the
burner on start up and shutdown of the gas turbine. Its closed in
the event of faults which require immediate interuuption of the
supply of natural gas to the gas turbin. The natural gas ESV is
opened hydraulically and closed very rapidly by spring force.

Natural gas premix burner control valve

(second shutoff Element)
Natural gas premix burner control valve (NG PB CV)
MBP22AA151 is actuated in accordance with the
requirements of the gas turbine operating mode and
regulated the natural gas mass flow to premix burner.

Fuel Gas system

ot gas control valve (second shutoff element)

Like the natural gas burner control valve, the pilot gas
control valve (PG CV) is a leak-tight and fail safe shutoff
valve which, in addition to controlling the mass flow of
pilot gas, is also part of the gas block. Pilot gas is used to
start the gas turbine. The pilot gas control valve regulates
the amount of natural gas that flow through the pilot gas
burner. The flow of pilot gas is set as a function of Nox
emission data, flame stability, and the humming behavior
of the gas turbine.

atural gas Temperature Monitoring

In the standard configuration, the natural gas

system is equipped with three resistance
thermometers MBP13CT101, MBP13CT102,
MBP13CT103 located in the natural gas supply line
upstream of the natural gas ESV. An alarm is
announciated if at least two of these three
thermometers indicated limit T. GAS.01 has been
exceeded. Natural gas temperature readings are
used by the gas turbine controller to correct the lift
setpoint for the premix and pilot gas control valve

tural gas pressure monitoring

The amount of natural gas that combusts in the gas turbine combustion
chamber is a function of the supply pressure of the gas, the lift of the
natural gas control valve and the combustion chamber pressure. Natural
gas pressure is measured upstream of the natural gas emergency stop
valve by pressure transducers MBP13CP101,102,103 and downstream of
the natural gas emergency stop valve by pressure transducer

Triggering of Trip
Triggering of trip becomes necessary if any operating condition accur
that poses an immediate Threat of the gas turbine. When the natural
gas system trip is triggered, the natural gas ESV And both control
valve simultaneously receive a close command. The circuit of the
hidrauliCally actuated valve that initiated trip are opened in response
to the close command and Valve are closed very rapidly by their
closing springs and than NG pressure relief valve is Opened.
