DOWNCOMER TUBES:
In some water-tube boilers, a tube
larger in diameter than the water
tubes to conduct the water from each
top drum to a bottom drum, thus
completing the circulation
STEAM DRUM:
A steam drum is a standard feature of a water-tube
boiler. It is a reservoir of water/steam at the top end
of the water tubes. The drum stores the steam
generated in the water tubes and acts as a phase-
separator for the steam/water mixture. The
difference in densities between hot and cold water
helps in the accumulation of the "hotter"-water/and
saturated-steam into the steam-drum.
SAFETY VALVE:
The safety valve is fitted on the drum. It prevents the
explosion due to high pressure in the boiler. It is
generally two in number. The safety valve blow offs
the steam when the pressure inside the boiler exceeds
the certain limit.
STOP VALVE:
This valve is used to control the flow of steam from the boiler to the steam pipe. It opens
When the steam require, it shut off when sufficient steam is the steam pipe.
FURNACE:
Is the place where the fuel is burnt.
