Objective
Inquiry based learning starts by posing questions, problems or scenarios. The
process is often assisted by a facilitator (Teacher). Inquirers will identify and
research issues and questions to develop their knowledge or solutions. This type
of learning includes problem-based learning and is generally used in small scale
investigations and projects, as well as research. The inquiry-based instruction is
principally very closely related to the thinking and its development.

Inquiry-based learning

Step 1. Introduction: Students are introduced to a topic or issue.

Step 2. Explore: They explore on the chosen topic vertically.

Stap 3. Setting up an reasearch: They set up an investigation on the basis of their own question.

Stap 4. Carry out research: They carry out this research.

Stap 5. Conclude: They draw an conclusion.

Stap 6. Present: They process the learning of their research results in a presentation

Stap 7. Deepen/ Broaden

In conclusion, the teacher broaden or deepen their learning so they can apply in other contexts or
by connecting with other concepts.
How can teachers implement the inquiry-based
learning in Suriname Classroom?
The teacher has taught a particular science theme or topic. The teacher then develops questions and a
procedure that guides students through an activity where the results are already known. This method is
great to reinforce concepts taught and to introduce students into learning to follow procedures, collect and
record data correctly and to confirm and deepen understandings.

The teacher provides the initial question and an outline of the procedure. Students are to formulate explanations
of their findings through evaluating and analyzing the data that they collect.

The teacher provides only the research question for the students. The students are responsible for designing
and following their own procedures to test that question and then communicate their results and findings.

Students formulate their own research question(s), design and follow through with a developed procedure, and
communicate their findings and results. This type of inquiry is often seen in science fair contexts where
students drive their own investigative questions

How can ICTs enhance effectiveness or
efficiency
Effectiveness is a certain manner in which your pupils have understood our
lessons and will not forget the topic for a while.

Efficiency is the manner in which you as a teacher have presented a certain topic
like with a beamer or even showing the class a film on google 360.

ICTs can be very handy to get surveys done and you can also get information for
your tests online for each and every students using kahoot ore wordpress for
lessons.

How will we know it works?
Old teaching methods required pupils to work on blackboards and so the whole
class would see what each child is capable of.

Using ICTs will require participation of each child and it will be not difficult for the
teacher to observe the class its participation .

The evaluation can be done during the experiment on Kahoot. Each step has 5
min, so after every 5 min a poll question pop out so the kids has to poll before they
start with the next step of the experiment.
How will we know it works?

If it works can be known by a significant change in marks because still we have to

give the pupils marks for their tests and if we use the data of the old and new
teaching methods we can know what the difference is , like if their is a change in
the average mark of the subject with more than 10% than u know if it works or not.
