Proposal for Lagos Network Optimization

August 2017
Overview
Network Optimization simply refers to all actions and activities that is intended
to tune all aspects of the GSM network performance, covering access network,
core network, and transmission network.

The access network optimization procedure consists of two phases: cluster

testing and system integration optimization. In other words, the initial pass of
the RF optimization will be performed as a part of cluster tests: the second,
more detailed, tuning phase will occur after completion of all cluster tests,
which occur after activation of all cell sites in the GSM network. The cluster
testing of the GSM Network is referred to as drive testing of the network.

The primary reason for breaking the optimization work into two phases is to
reduce the time and resources required to complete the cluster test cycles and
also efficiently optimize the network.

-1-
Objective

To ensure the achievement of acceptable coverage

To provide an understanding and comparison of ntel network against
Other competitors
To maximize the quality of service
To maximize the network efficiency (including load balancing)

-2-
Consideration

System stability and performance : To easy and simplify optimization

process, instability and bad performance of system should be clarified.

Coverage : Can be adjusted by power settings (total, overhead),
antenna tilting and orientation, hand-off area and so on.
Capacity : Trunk lines, Number of traffic channel and elements should
be equipped with sufficient quantity. Also poor transmission reception s
hould be optimized for efficient output.
Parameters : Can be adjusted for the better coverage and capacity
adjustment. This can range from change of antenna height to adjustment
of antenna direction to an azimuth that gives best coverage and quality.
