Description
What can you learn from the title of the
artwork? I can learn that cats clean themselves and like to
sleep.

What subjects in the artwork can you recognize?
The subjects I can recognize is health, because being clean has to
do with health.

Looking at the elements of design, describe
what qualities you see? I see color, shape, texture, space,
and etc..

What media and techniques did the artist use?
Some media techniques the artist used is texture.
Analysis
Emphasis: Is there a dominant element or focal
point that you see first? The first thing I noted was the
black cat.

Balance: Is there a special balance, or weight,
among the elements? What mood does it
create? There is a special balance within the painting and the
mood is laziness.

Proportion: Do the proportions look normal,
ideal, or unusual? Why? The proportions are normal,
because my two cats are round that size.

Pattern: Are elements repeated to create a
pattern? Where? Why? Shading has been continued on
the cats to show texture and emphasis.

Rhythm or Movement: What visual rhythms or
paths of movement do your eyes follow?
Where? Why? The cat licking its self shows movement, so
that that cat looks like it is really moving.

Unity and Variety: What elements bring
together, or unify many parts of the design.
Why? What elements add variety? Why? The cats
unify the art and the element texture adds variety.

Is there symbolism in the artwork? What do you
think it means? No there is no symbolism in the artwork.

What feeling do you think the artist wanted to
give the viewer when looking at the work? The
artist wanted the viewer to feel like the cats are in action.

Does the work remind you of other things you
have experienced? This reminds me of my cats sleeping
and my dog licking herself.

events in the world and/or in your other
classes? This relates to science, because of the health aspects
in it.

What parts of the work make you feel it is a
success or failure? Two failures that I found was the
sleeping cat and the space. Also the background, I couldnt even
tell what the background was.

this work? Some criteria I can give is that the cats are good
and the mood is laziness.

work is or is not unique? This work is not unique,
because there are a lot of paintings of cats.

What are some improvements you feel the artist
could have made to the work? The artist could have
improved on the yellow cat and the mood he was trying to
convey.
