What can you learn from the title of the
artwork?
Base off of the tittle, I predicted there would be deer, a bat, and a pine tree. Because
of the part of the title named Japanese Kyoto school. I predicted it would show
Japanese culture.

A deer, a bat, and a pine tree, Kanji/Japanese characters.

Looking at the elements of design, describe
what qualities you see?
I see lines in the strokes of the pines needle. I see form in the white circle on the deer,
color in the braches of the bats wings.

The media and techniques that the artist , used ink and watercolors .

Emphasis: Is there a dominant element or focal
point that you see first?
The focal point that I see in the painting is the tree because for me its the biggest
element and because its the most colorful part of the painting.

among the elements? What mood does it
create?
I see more balance on the side of the deer because it has the deer and that gives more
movement and weight. The mood that the painting gives is a calm, warm, and
peaceful mood.

The proportion looks normal because the deer, bat, and the tree look like what
theyre suppose to look like.

The spikes on the tree create a pattern of lines.

paths of movement do your eyes follow?

The movement and rhythm that I see in the painting is all deer, bat, and tree because
you could see how the deer turning and the bat because its flying away and the tree
because it looks like the wind is blowing thought it.

Why? What elements add variety? Why? \
The unity and variety that I see is the unity because they all live in nature and the
forest and the variety are the lines on the tree and shadows in the painting.

Is there symbolism in the artwork? What do you
think it means? the symbolism is togetherness , I think it means how both
the nature and animals work together.

What feeling do you think the artist wanted to
give the viewer when looking at the work?
I think that what the artist wanted the viewer to feel in this work is calm and how
many pace an animal jut by watching can give you a, peaceful felling.

have experienced?
This Art work reminds me of when I go to a mountain and see a lot of animals there,
especially deers, a lot of nature and some bats.

events in the world and/or in your other
classes? I can relate this artwork to my science class last year because we were
learning about life science and it talk about animals in there habitats.

What parts of the work make you feel it is a
success or failure? All the art work makes me feel like it was a success
because I think the artist tells you everything/makes you feel what they were trying to
say with this artwork.

this work? Others can judge this by the shadow and simple this that
complement each other really well.

How unique is the work? Why do you feel this
work is or is not unique? I think this work is unique because of
how the tree complements the deer and the bat , and how the few tones of color
stands out on the artwork.

What are some improvements you feel the artist
could have made to the work? I feel that some improvement
for this artwork would be maybe a little more color and maybe one or two more
animals.
