ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING PROF RAM MEGHE COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT-ACADEMIC YEAR 2014-2018 CONTENT Introduction Objectives and Approaches Evolution - development from 1G To 4G 4G in India How 4G works Features of 4G Advantages Disadvantages Application Conclusion Reference INTROUCTION
The fourth generation (4G) technology is the fastest technology
provided for data transfer. 4G is the short term for fourth generation wireless.
4G was introduced to provide wide area network for internet
access.
It will be fully IP based integrated system capable of providing
between 100mbps to 1Gbps in both indoor and outdoor with premium quality and high security. OBJECTIVE AND APPROACHES 4G is being developed to enhance Quality of service (QOS) and rate requirements set by applications like 1.MMS(multimedia massaging service). 2.wireless broadband service. 3.video chat. 4.mobile TV. 5.digital video broadcasting. 6.high network capacity. 7.data rate of 100mbps for mobile and 1Gbps while stationary. EVOLUTION-1G TO 4G 1G To 4G The first generation (1G) was introduced in the early 1980s in Japan . it was analog and support only analog phones with speed 2.4 kbps. The second generation(2G) was introduced in the late 1980s and then commercially launch in Finland in 1991 .it was mainly planned for voice transmission with digital signal having speed up to 64kbps. The third generation(3G) also called UMTS(universal mobile telecommunication standard) was developed in late 1998s. It not just provide speed up to 2 mbps but also provide services like global roaming , superior video quality. The fourth generation was raised in 2008 with promising speed up to 100 mbps. 4G IN INDIA India is latecomers in 3G. When India completed the implementation on 3G fully , 4G technologies like LTE available commercially. It has taken 3 years for government to decide 3G spectrum policy. In India first 4G services launch on 10 April 2012 through dongles and modems using LTE technology. Currently in India 4G LTE of band 40 having frequency range 2300-2400 MHz active in India. HOW 4G WORKS? INTERNET PROTOCOL In the 4G wireless networks each node assigned a 4G-IP address (based on IPv6) which is formed permanent home IP address that represent actual location of operator. when the device (computer) wants to communicate with other device (mobile), then the computer sends a packet to the mobile targeting on its IP address. OFDM OFDM
OFDM stands orthogonal frequency division multiplexing
it transmit large amount of digital data over the radio wave. It works by splitting the radio signal into many sub- signals and then transmitted simultaneously to the receiver. OFDM is the digital modulation technology in which the more than thousand of orthogonal waves are multiplexed to increase the signal Strength and it helps in increase the bandwidth. LTE(Long term evolution) LTE stands for long term evolution. The goal of LTE is to increase the capacity and speed of networks by digital signal processing technique. it is use for simplification on networks architecture to an IP based system. The LTE is incompatible with 2G and 3G networks. ADVANTAGES 1] Low cost and high speed than earlier technology. 2] Data rate of 100 mbps for mobile and 1Gbps while stationary. 3] Internet protocol (IP) based mobile system. 4] Wider bandwidths and higher bit rates. 5] A wide range of applications are operated with only one 4G integrated terminal. 6] Provide better security than previous technology. 7] It is reliable , easier and affordable. 8] Support all the previous technology. DISADVANTAGES
1] Customers are required to purchase a new 4G
equipment to handle this technology. 2] Battery usage is more. APPLICATIONS
1] Virtual presence that means it provides user services all
the time. 2] for the business high speed working , video conferencing. 3] 4G provides a virtual navigation through which a user can access a database of streets , buildings etc. 4] 4G will support the remote health monitoring of patient using video conference. 5] 4G provide a good opportunity to people anywhere in the world to continue their education online in a cost effective manner. 6] It enhance the online gaming experience. CONCLUSION 4G seems to be a very promising generation of wireless communication that will change the peoples life in the wireless world. 4G technology offer to reduce number of technology to a single global network. The 4G promises to fulfil the goal of PCC(personal computing and communication).
