Jesus Won The
Battle Against
Sin, Death,
and Satan!
1 John 3:8
But when people keep on sinning,
it shows that they belong to the
devil, who has been sinning since
the beginning. But the Son of God
came to destroy the works of the
devil.
Romans 6:6
For we know that our old
self was crucified with him
so that the body of sin
might be done away with,
that we should no longer
be slaves to sin.
Hebrews 2:14
Since the children have flesh and
blood, He too shared in their
humanity so that by His death He
might destroy him who holds the
power of death - that is, the devil.
Colossians 2:15
In this way, He disarmed the
spiritual rulers and authorities.
He shamed them publicly by His
victory over them on the cross.
Christians
Are In A
Battle
Ephesians 6:12 (NLT)
For we are not fighting against
flesh-and-blood enemies, but
against evil rulers and authorities
of the unseen world, against
mighty powers in this dark world,
and against evil spirits in the
heavenly places.

We Are
Commanded
To RESIST
The Devil.
James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore
to God. Resist the
devil, and he will flee from
you.
Resist
The Greek word for “resist” is
anthistemi which means:
to set one's self against, to
withstand, resist, to oppose.

To Push Back!
Pushing Back
1. Declaring God’s Word.
2. Praying into the Opposite spirit.
3. Walking in the Opposite spirit.
4. Worshipping the Lord.
5. Renouncing all involvement with
the Occult.
6. Identifying prince demons and
declaring, “The Lord Rebuke You!”
Ephesians 6:10-18 (NLT)
A final word: Be strong in the Lord
10

and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all

of God’s armor so that you will be
able to stand firm against all
strategies of the devil. 12 For we are
not fighting against flesh-and-blood
enemies, but against evil rulers and
authorities of the unseen world,
Ephesians 6:10-18 (cont.)
against mighty powers in this dark
world, and against evil spirits in the
heavenly places. 13 Therefore, put on
every piece of God’s armor so you
will be able to resist the enemy in
the time of evil. Then after the
battle you will still be standing
firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting
Ephesians 6:10-18 (cont.)
on the belt of truth and the body
armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For
shoes, put on the peace that comes
from the Good News so that you
will be fully prepared. 16 In addition
to all of these, hold up the shield of
faith to stop the fiery arrows of the
devil. 17 Put on salvation as your
Ephesians 6:10-18 (cont.)
helmet, and take the sword of the
Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and
on every occasion. Stay alert and be
persistent in your prayers for all
believers everywhere.

#1
Belt of
Truth
The Cingulim
This was the soldier’s
badge of office, worn
with the tunic at all
times. The “apron”
gave some protection
to the groin area. It
made a jangling noise
when marching to
intimidate the enemy.
Truth
1. Truth in word and deed:
The opposite of falsehood.
2. Truth of heart:
The opposite of hypocrisy.
3. Truth in God:
The opposite is relativity.
#2
Body
Armor
of God’s
Righteousness
Body Armor
Strips of iron laid in
an overlapping
fashion, secured by
leather straps.
Making a strong but
flexible defense
against enemy
swords and arrows.
Righteousness
For his sake I have discarded everything
else, counting it all as garbage, so that I
could gain Christ  and become one with him.
I no longer count on my own righteousness
through obeying the law; rather, I become
righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s
way of making us right with himself
depends on faith.
(Philippians 3:8-9)
#3
Peace
that
comes
from Good News
Shoes
A key to the Roman
soldier’s victory.
They allowed for fast
military marches into
battle. The hobnails
were patterned for
maximum weight
bearing, comfort,
traction, and
durability.
Peace
God’s peace enters our lives when
we receive the Good News of
Jesus’ death and resurrection. His
victory over sin and our freedom
from eternal condemnation and
death. In Christ we are reconciled
to God and can rest in peace.
#4
Shield
Of
Faith
The Shield
This Roman shield was
large and curved to fit
around the entire
body. Made of wood
and covered with
leather and iron. They
were strong enough to
protect the soldier
from enemy arrows
and swords.
Faith
A shield does nothing by itself. If left
at home it provides no protection. It
must be taken up and used. Practice
using your shield of faith by making
statements of faith. By declaring
God’s word during times of testing,
trials, and spiritual attack.
#5
Helmet
Of
Salvation
The Helmet
Made of metal and
designed to protect
the head, face, and
neck without blocking
the soldier’s vision.
The crest was worn by
officers so his men
could easily locate him
during times of battle.
Hope of Salvation
But let us who live in the light be
clearheaded, protected by the armor of
faith and love, and wearing as our helmet
the confidence of our salvation.
(1 Thessalonians 5:8)

Hope is having a “confident

expectation” of God’s good.
#6
Sword of
the Spirit:
The Word
of God
The Sword
The gladius, or Roman
short sword, had a
double edge blade and
was an extremely
effective stabbing
weapon. It was short
enough to wield easily in
the crush of battle and
devastatingly effective.
Word of God
A sword can look pretty hanging on the wall
but when the enemy is attacking you need
to have it in your hand and know how to use
it.
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is
sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword,
cutting between soul and spirit, between joint
and marrow. It exposes our innermost
thoughts and desires. (Hebrews 4:12)
