Auto Delete Stored Files
Auto-deleting files from the Document Server
Files stored on the Document Server can automatically be deleted at a specific period.
A user can set the period to store files on the Document Server, and when that time has
passed, the files will automatically be deleted from the Document Server. If the setting
is disabled, the files remains stored.

Users can specify a period, as shown below:

Setting Range

Specify Hours 196

*Default setting: Specify Hours 3

- If Auto Delete File in Document Server is enabled, the message will appear on the
operation panel.
- If stored files are deleted, the action of them being deleted will be recorded in the
Security Logs (Access Log).

Prerequisites

The prerequisites for obtaining the network

packets are the same as the prerequisites for
the log-storing function.
SP-5-858-001 (Save Machine Info) > 1 (enabled)
The device has an HDD installed or an SD card
inserted.
Notes for using an SD card:
- Use the 16-GB SD card (B6455060).
- The LogTraceServiceSlotSd folder is created by executing
SP5-858-003 (Make LogTrace Dir).
Setup

Step 1) Configure the device (SP-5-728-101)

Note: Network packet captures

cannot be stored by default.

Step 3) Collect the network packets (SP-5-858-111)

Setup

Step 1) Configure the device

Set SP5-728-101 (PacketCapture) to 1 (enabled).

Note: This setting is disabled by default because storing the network

packet captures affects performance.
Setup

Packet-capturing options can be set, if needed.

Case 1) Specifying the maximum length per data packet to be captured.

Case 2) Specifying the interface of the data packet to be captured.
Case 3) Storing the broadcast or multicast data packets.
Case 4) Specifying the port number of the data packet to be captured.
Setup

captured without receiving permission when
this function is unintentionally enabled, the

header information.

Note: If the packet that is equivalent to one obtained by using

Wireshark is needed, set SP-5-728-102 to 1 and SP5-728-104 to
the maximum value, 65535.

Setup
If a packet that is equivalent to one obtained by using
Wireshark is needed, change the following settings:

SP-5-728-102 1: Specify the maximum length per

(PacketCapture:mode) data packet to be captured.
SP-5-728-104
(PacketCapture:length) 65535

SP-5-728-105
(PacketCapture:broadcast) 1: Enabled

Notes:
- This function cannot be used as a complete alternative solution to the current method
of obtaining network packets because of the controllers limitations. These limitations
include not being able to capture packets when the engine is off or captured files being
separated even if there are no differences in the amount of information.
- Capturing packets with the default settings configured might not be useful for
investigation the cause of an issue. If the user agrees to the full packet data being
captured, configuring the setting mentioned above is recommended.

Limitations
Network packet captures cannot be stored in the
following cases:
From when the machine is turned on until the packet-capturing
function starts.
From when the network function is restarted until it restarts.
Under the same conditions as when the log-storing function
does not work:
When the engine is off.
When any of the following SC error occur:
SC672, SC816, SC819, SC859, SC860, SC861, SC862, SC863,
SC864, SC878, and SC899.

When downloading the logs via Web Image Monitor,

packets, in addition to HTTP packets, cannot be captured
by using this function.

What Is SNTP Polling?

SNTP

SNTP is the networking protocol for clock synchronization.

Polling
Polling is a process that the device conducts to check for
other devices.

In 15A and 16S models, the interval range for SNTP polling
will be changed. However, there are no plans to backport it.

Print Volume Use Limitation
16S and later

The Print Volume Use Limitation function

helps reduce total cost of ownership by
specifying the settings for each user and
limits the number of sheets that each user
can print.
This function can be used when any of the
following types of authentication is enabled:
Basic authentication, LDAP authentication,
Windows authentication, User code
authentication, SDK custom authentication
Target applications:
Copy, Printer, Document Server, web print, and
SDK applications
Previous Implementation of Print
Volume Use Limitation
16S and later
After a logged-in user conducts an operation, such as
printing or copying, the device will display the number
of sheets that have been printed by that user along
with his or her printable limit in the banner at the
bottom of the operation panel. However, usability was
poor.
As of 16S Models
16S and later
In 16S and later models, when a user logs on to the
device, a pop-up that shows the user name, volume
used, and units required to print will appear on the
operation panel.
As of 16S Models
16S and later
After closing the pop-up screen, the
volume used is displayed in the system
messages or the status bar.

Note: There is no way to disable the pop-up screen from appearing

after a user logs in.
Appendix
16S and later
If the pop-ups for both eco-friendly and Print
Volume Use Limitation satisfy the display
conditions, the pop-up for Print Volume Use
Limitation is given priority over the eco-friendly
screen.
When printing, the volume used is not displayed
at that time.
After copying, the value of volume used that is
displayed in the system messages does not
increase at that time. The next time that the user
logs on to the operation panel, the value will be
updated.

Changes as of 16S Models
16S and later
In 15A and previous models, if the documents are upside
down, the machine will automatically detect it and modify
the orientation. This function always applies when the
OCR feature is being used.
However, an image of one or two pages in multiple sheets
might be rotated and scanned.
Example: There are handwritten letters on the outside of the table.
