WELCOME

J.J.Thomson
In 1900, J.J.Thomson discovered the presence of the negatively
charged particles called electrons in the atom.
Properties of Electron
 Electrons are present outside the nucleus of an atom.
 Electrons are negatively charged.
 The mass of an electron is considered to negligible.
Ernest Rutherford

In 1911 Ernest Rutherford discovered the proton

Properties of Proton
 Protons are present in the nucleus of an atom.
 Protons are positively charged.
 The mass of a proton is approximately 2000
times as the mass of an electron
Chadwick
In 1932 Chadwick discovered the presence of particles
having no charge in the atom called neutrons.
Properties of Neutron
 Neutrons are present in the nucleus of an atom.
 Neutrons are neutral.
 The mass of neutron is nearly equal to the mass of
a proton.
