ASTHMA

 Asthma is a chronic lung disease that causes the
channels in the bronchioles to be narrower than
normal peoples.
 Duringan asthma attack the bronchioles will tighten
extremely causing shortness of breath, chest pain,
wheezing and coughing.
 An asthma attack can be reversed by use of an
inhaler (salbutamol) this is a steroid which opens up
the bronchioles and allows the person to ventilate.
 If
an inhaler cannot be accessed it can cause
DEATH…

WHAT IS ASTHMA?
 Common triggers include : animal fur, pollen, dust
 Other triggers include hot and cold days, strong smells, gasses,
smoking. Exercise (my excuse for everything) and chest
infections.
 Can lead to other complications such as persistent tiredness,
depression, underperformance (Work and school), anxiety, stress,
disruption to a normal life.
 Can lead to other ailments such as pneumonia, Bronchitis, croup.

 Less concentration of O2 in lungs


 Less surface area due to tightness of
bronchioles
