Flexible SLM Token System

1
WHAT IS THE TOKEN?
• In networking, a token is a special
series of bits that travels around a
token ring network.
• As the token circulates, computers
attached to the network can capture
it. The token acts like a ticket,
enabling its owner to send a message
across the network.

How Real-Time Token System
Licensing Operates
• Each product requires a fixed number of
tokens to run - product’s token value.

• A pool of fixed real -time tokens are available

on a network license server - real-time token
limit.

• When a product is started - a check for the limit

is made - the number of real-time tokens
required is temporarily removed from the
network license server.
5
• When the product is exited, the
real-time tokens are returned to the
network license server.

• Product usage is recorded in a log

file for analysis.

6
Flexible SLM Token System
Main Benefits
• Customers can exchange tokens to
run an agreed number of Aspentech
software products where all
Software licenses are made available
to all users in the same time.

7
• Licenses can be downloaded from
the pool to a user’s personal
computer / laptop when needed for
any period of time as requested.

• Distribution of the investment over

multiple affiliates and/or offices.
