WHY & HOW


Definition of Stress
 Stress is such a pressure impacting our body which
adversely affects our health
 This is type/kind of stimulant which on becoming
unbearable assumes the form of stress.
 In simple words, stress is an indicator of mal-
adjustment between a person and surrounding
circumstances
Factors leading to Stress
 Fight or Flight reaction
 if all of a sudden we have
an encounter with a lion or
a bear, we may have two
option/alternatives: Either
fight the lion/bear and
killing or run away.
 Stress and being moved by
Emotion
 Too much stress leads to
excess secretion of chemicals
from brain which may lead to
stroke and finaly bursting of
nerves and may result in death
Major Change in Surrounding
 Human beings by nature are accustomed to
pleasant surroundings. Sudden and major change in
surrounding such as transfer, new house, new office,
new deptt. etc., have been found to be some of the
major reasons of stress.
Types of Stress
 Positive Stress
 Getting some pleasant news, accomplishment of desired
target, success in examination, promotion, birth of a child
in the family are some of the examples leading to positive
stress.
 Negative Stress
 Sudden transfer, unpleasant news, obstacle in desired
target, failure in exam, not getting promotion, sudden
demise of dear one.

 Sources related to surroundings
 Rise and fall in business, political instability and system,
constant change in Technological development, sense of
insecurity due to terrorism.
 Personal Factors
 Tense relations in personal and family life, difficulties arising
out of less income and more expenditure, personal problems
due to responsibilities.

 Variation in thinking and worry for future, stress out of excess
work, lack of social co-operation during stress.
 Organizational Factors
 Demand for excess work, confusion about the role of self in
the work, Organizational structure (Rules/Policies).

credit/status (Development, stability or instability)
Symptoms and mal effects of Stress
 Due to abnormal relations between a person and his
surroundings it is sure to result in to stress.

 Personal Mal - effects

 Excess worry, excess anger, feeling of boredom,


irritant behaviour, increased complaining, total change
in mind set, excess tension, excitement, increased
heart beats

 Excess drinks, increase in smoking, drug addiction, decreased
talking, laughing in a abnormal manner, feeling of restlessness,
sleeplessness, increased food in-take, reducing weight, highly

 Decreased concentration, indecisiveness, memory loss,
mental obstacle, intolerance for criticism, feeling of tiredness,
loneliness, and day dreaming, shaken self confidence, reflects on
quality/work due to worry and irritant behaviour.

 It is an integral part of life. By adopting simple
technique and living happy and conscious life we can
reduce the level of stress which is very essential for
our health

an hour exercise is beneficial
 Exercise like, running, Playing, Jumping,

 Putting the feet in ice cold water or warm water.
 Long and deep breathing in morining in open sky.
