Carmeuse – Luttrell Mine
• The Problem – After heavy rainfall in east
Tennessee during the spring of 2011,
significant increase in inflow into
underground operations
• The Solution – Use of single component
polyurethane to consolidation grout through
sinkhole throats

Polycor – Tate Quarry
• The Problem – After heavy rainfall in north
Georgia during the summer of 2012, an
approximate increased inflow of 20,000
gpm began entering the quarry
• The Solution – Use of single component
polyurethane to create a pre-placed
aggregate plug at the sinkhole throat

Nyrstar – Holdenville Decline
• The Problem – A section of decline
experienced various amounts of inflow,
requiring continuous maintenance of the
road and shutting down operations due to
ice in the winter
• The Solution – Use of single component
polyurethane to seal fractures and bolts to
create a drainage system

ACC – Affinity Shaft
• The Problem – Shaft rehabilitation where
shotcrete was being applied as a liner.
Inflow prevented shotcrete application.
Application of shotcrete was to be final seal
against water/icing.
• The Solution – Utilize single component
polyurethane to stop inflow and allow
shotcrete application.

Face Sealing
• The Problem – Fractures at the mining face
connect to drill holes that are to be grouted.
Cement grout is lost at the face.
The method can also be used on concrete
structures where leaks occur.
• The Solution – Various approaches utilizing
single component polyurethane to seal the
leaks.
