Probe Selector explanation D C B A
Basically the function of the PSEL is the same as other Ultrasound systems.
The main functions are:
• To select one of the connected probes
• The Relay switches are used to select or deselect the probe ( operated from the panel)
• It is an interface PWB between the Probe Connectors and the PCNT PWB
• At Probe connector A and B is for Linear, Convex and Phased Array Sector probes
• At Probe connector C two options are possible:
• 1. PCAX option : For Linear, Convex and Phased Array Sector probes
• 2. PCAA option : For Phased Array sector, TEE and Annnular Array (future)
• At Probe connector D in the future a Mechanical Sector probe might be connectable

A38 PCNT PWB ( Probe Control ) Explanation
The PCNT PWB has the following main functions:
• It ‘Interfaces’ all the signals between the System Mother PWB and the PSEL PWB
• It contains the HVSW’s ( High Voltage Switches )
• The control signals for the HVSW-MUX are coming from the TXBF PWB
• The Fault detection circuit detects two kinds of fault conditions:
• High Voltage Leakage detection for detection of ‘short cuts’.
•Error codes: same as for the PV6000
• Over High Voltage detection: if a HV becomes too high or too low
•Error codes: same as for the PV6000

Explanation
The first function of the PAMP PWB is to Pre-amplify the echo signals.
The PAMP PWB can have two different configurations:
• No Phased Array Sector and no CW options included
• Both Phased Array Sector and CW options included
In case of no PA Sector configuration the Delay curve for the Linear/Convex
probes is symmetrical. In this case the channels with the same delay timing can be
added together directly ( see picture below )

The RPNL PWB does not contain any electronics but is the ‘connector’ PWB for
video/audio signals and control signals ( RS232,SCSI,Mouse etc.)
The back of this PWB is directly connected to the ECDC PWB (for video/audio)
and the SYSC PWB for the control signals.
If you want to display an image without this RPNL PWB, a Rear Panel Jig can be
connected as a service tool.

Error Log
If failures occur in the system this might result in a error stored in the error log.
The same error code only appears once until the ‘Clear’ button is pressed.
It will appear again if the failure still exists.
12-32
Image Data Viewer
Here the (intermittent) failure image can be viewed which was stored by the
customer with the ‘Image Storage’ function ( by pressing ‘Shift’ + ‘F1’ ).
In this way the customer can capture intermittent failure images.
After that the Service Engineer can observe the captured failure image from the
systems memory. This image can also be stored (with other service files) on a
MO or floppy disk.
Example of captured
failure image data.

Troubleshooting the Power Supply (1)
If it seems that there is no power: no monitor image and no panel operation,
please check the following:
On the rear panel board (RPNL PWB) there is a 3.3 V indicator.
If this LED is ON, the following Power Supply parts are probably OK:
LNF, Transformer and SWRG PWB and HVPS.
So most probably the A02 RGLT PWB is broken

Troubleshooting the Power Supply (2)
If it seems that there is no power: no monitor image and no panel operation, and if
the LED is OFF, please first check if the Auxiliary outputs are there ( 230 V ).
If these outputs are normal, most probably the SWRG is broken.
It these outputs are abnormal, the Line Filter or the Transformer might be broken.
Please measure the output of the Line Filter by dis-assembly this Line Filter.
