Renewable energy

 INTRODUCTION
 any sustainable energy whichcomes from natural resources such as
sunlight, wind, tides, rain, geothermal energy.
 Some aspects of Renewable energy It exists perpetually and is
abundant. Ready to be harnessed, inexhaustible. Clean alternative to fossil
fuels.
Types of renewable energy

 Renewable Energy.
 Hydro energy
 Wind energy
 Solar energy
 Biomass.
 Geothermal energy
Solar energy

 Solar energy is the radiant light and heat from the sun.
 Solar energy technologies include use
 of solar energy for solar heating
 Solar photovoltaic (changes sunlight directly into electricty )
 solar thermal electricity ( it harnessing solar energy to generate electrical
energy or thermal energy)
 solar architecture ( sun to harness clean renewable energy
Hydro power
 Is power that is derived from the force or energy of falling water,
 It harnessed for usefull purposes:
 It is a capture of moving water to generate electric power.
 It is falling water is used to turn the turbine blades
 Turbine blades converts hydrolic energy to mechanical energy .
 WHAT IS DAM ?
 It is a medium to store water at a height ,
 It consists of flood gates.
Wind power is
 Wind power is a renewable energy source used to generate electricity
byconverting wind energy into mechanical energy. This mechanical
energy is thenconverted into electricity by the use of an electrical
generator located within eachindividual wind machine.
 What is wind turbine ?
 Is blowing wind spins that blades of wind turbine.
 A wind mill grinds ?
 Is used to pump water
Biomass ( or bio _fuels)
 Biomass is all plant material, or vegetation, either raw
or processed, wild or cultivated.
 Bio-fuel
 is a type of fuel whose energy is derived from biological
carbon fixation.
 Bio-fuels are derived from biomass conversion, as well as
solid biomass.
 Uses –
 Industrial process heat and steam,
 Electrical power generation,
 Transportation fuels (ethanol and biodiesel) and
 other products.
Geothermal energy

 Geothermal energy
 it is thermal energy generated and stored in the Earth. Thermal energy is the
energythat determines the temperature of matter.
 Geothermal power is cost effective, reliable, sustainable, and
environmentallyfriendly.

 Uses
 Direct use: geothermal heating and heat pumps( like heat)
 Indirect use: Electricity production ( source tempreture is higher than 150
degree celsius)
