Basic Concepts
NE ID and Extended ID

 ID is a unique identifier for one NE in a 12

network, the corresponding NE can be
found through it.
 NE ID is consists of the basic ID and
extended ID, eg. NE ID =extended ID ×
256×256+basic ID.
 ID is set by physical switch or software in
SCC board. The NEs which have the
same basic ID can be set as different
extended ID via software to differentiate.
 The extended ID is 9 by default. Usually
mention “ID” means basic ID.

Basic Concepts

NE User
 It refers to the user defined at NE which used to assign NE operation
authority so as to control the operator to login NE and configure it.
 NE user by default has administrator level, operator level, maintainer level
and monitor level with different operation authority.
 NE user is classified into LCT NE user, EMS NE user, CMD NE user and
General NE user, which are applicable to get access to NE by T2000-LCT,
T2000, Navigator and for all respectively. Usually use the General NE user.
 One NE user support only one terminal to login NE at the moment.

 The default administrator level NE user is “root”

Basic Concepts

NE User
 NE login lock

 Not allow the same or the lower level NE user to login NE and force
logout the lower level NE user which already login NE.
 This operation can not be process when the higher or the same level
NE user already login, and the successful locking will be disabled
when the higher level NE user login.
 NE setting lock

 There are four modules for NE data setting, configuration, alarm,

performance and other. The other users can not modify the module
when it is “NE setting lock” enabled.

Basic Concepts

NM User
 The user with corresponding authority for the T2000
client to login the T2000 server (NM).
 NM user is usually under a user group with the
different operation authority. Also can under the
customize authority groups or equipment groups.
 The default NM user name is “admin”, which called
super user, it’s authority is more than administrator
user group. It’s password should be keep well.

Basic Concepts

Gateway / Non-Gateway NE
 Gateway NE is the NE that
communicates with the NMS via
Ethernet or serial interface by
TCP/IP.
 The non-gateway NE and NMS
communicate each other via the
gateway NE by DCC in the fiber
link.
 There is at least one gateway in
an NM, but many gateways can
be exist at the same time.

Basic Concepts

Virtual NE
 Virtual NE is made by NMS to stand for some
unknown equipment, it doesn’t need the real NE on
site to support. Usually, it is used to simulate one
set of NEs or the other vendor’s equipment, also
can stand for a sub_network.
 The data configuration procedure is the same as
the ordinary NE’s.

Creating NE

NE Pre-configuration
 Under the NE pre-configuration mode, any change of the data
only saved at the NM side, there is no connection between the
NE in NM with the NE on site, also no on site NE supporting
required.
 No query function for the pre-configuration NE.

 Usually used for the T2000 operation exercise.

 After disable this function, the data saved at NM side can be

execute to the NE on site by download data.

Creating NE

Sub-rack NE and Optical NE

Optical NE

 Sub-rack NE

 Generally, one sub-rack NE in 1 OTM

Configuring NE

NE Configuration Mode
 Manual configuration

 Configure data step by step, in this way the original

data will be initialized and send new data to the NE.
 The previous data and service will lost.
 Copy NE data

 Copy the data from some other configured NE to the

current one.
 The previous data and service will lost.
 It got faster speed than other ways.

Configuring NE

NE Configuration Mode
 Upload

 Get all the running date from

the NE to NM, overwrite the
configuration data saved in
the NE layer on the NM side.
 It will keep the running data
and service in the NE.
 In the maintenance, operator
should use this way to
configure the NE in NM or
LCT.

Configuring NE

Query slots

 Query physical slot

 physical slot is based on all the
boards now really installed in the
slots of sub-rack.
 Query logical slot
 logical slot is based on the board
installation data in SCC database.
 Maybe not consistency with the
physical slot.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. All rights reserved Page 16

Configuring NE

Verify and Run

 The last step of manual
configuration.
 SCC board will verify the
new data. After pass, new
data will replace the old
one and run in NE.
 Verification is based on
whether the board
installation is right or not.

Configuration of Orderwire

Orderwire data setting

 Call waiting time:Time
for find the calling
destination, if overtime,
busy tone will be send.
 Typical value is 9 or 5.

 Dialing mode:only
support the DTMF.

Configuration of Clock

Two Type of Setting

 No protection setting

 Set clock source priority

only
 Clock protection setting:

 Set clock source priority

only
 Set clock subnet. (enable
the SSM protocol)

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. All rights reserved Page 20

Configuration of Clock

Clock Concepts

 Clock ID

 The lower 4 bits of S1 byte stand for the quality of clock ,

the higher 4 bits of S1 byte are unused, so Huawei
company define the 4 bits as clock ID, that can avoid the
clock traced loop.
 Standard SSM protocol

 Fully comply with the ITU-T recommendation.

 Extended SSM protocol

 Not only comply with the ITU-T recommendation but also

support HUAWEI clock ID definition.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. All rights reserved Page 21

Configuration of Clock

Clock Concepts
 SSM output control

 Whether output the SSM information or not is

optional, can avoid the interference from different
clock device at the border of the clock subnet.
 Clock source switching condition

 The trigger of the clock source switching. Support

the extended SSM protocol. Avoid the clock loop,
recommend to use.

Configuration Data Management

Consistency check
 Check the consistency of the configuration data between
the NM side and the NE side.
 For the different part, use upload/download to handle.

 It will not change the current data, recommend to use

periodically.

Upload/download

 Upload: data load from running NE to NM.

 Download: data load from NM to NE.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. All rights reserved Page 24

Configuration Data Management

Initializing NM side data

 Only delete the configuration data of the selected NE at the
NM side, the data still exist in the NE.
 After initializing, NE icon in NM change to unconfigured
status.

Import/export script file

 Import:configuration data from script file to NMS.

 Export:configuration data from NMS to script file.

 Can be used in the T2000 upgrade procedure.

Configuration Data Management
NE time synchronization
 Synchronize all the NE time to the T2000 server time.

Automatic disabling of NE function

 Use for the automatic loopback release. To avoid the problems after circuit
recovery.
 Function include:

 VC3/VC4/optical interface/electrical interface loopback.

 Ethernet/DWDM channel loopback.
 Laser shutdown

 What is the difference between physical slots and logical slots?

 What is the function of the NE pre-configuration?

 What is the difference between manual configuration and upload?

 What is the difference between standard SSM protocol and extended

SSM protocol?
