ABSTRACT

• In this Project we have shown a prototype for a city without traffic jams
• The Vision Zero is our approach to road safety thinking. It can be
summarized in one sentence: No loss of life is acceptable.
• The Vision Zero approach has proven highly successful. It is based on the
simple fact that we are human and make mistakes.
• The road system needs to keep us moving. But it must also be designed to
protect us at every turn.

INTRODUCTION

• Transport play an important role in the development of a nation. India has a

wide and heavy network of road transport which connects all the major
cities.
• In Town Planning and Management for too long, we’ve considered traffic
deaths and severe injuries to be inevitable side effects of modern life. We
face a crisis on our streets — with traffic due to bad town planning violence
taking too many lives — but there has traditionally been a lack of urgency
from the public and our policymakers to reverse this fatal trend.

OBJECTIVE OF OUR THESIS

• We face a crisis on our streets — with traffic violence taking too many
lives — but there has traditionally been a lack of urgency from the public
and our policymakers to reverse this fatal trend.
• Our prime aim is to analyze and produce the prototype of Zero traffic jam
roads along with a bridge that’s opens and closes upon the movement of
ships

METHODOLOGY
ZERO TRAFFIC JAM ROADS

Conflicting (intersecting) traffic flow is a liability and a drag.

•Replacing conflicting flow with merging (e.g. roundabouts) saves lives. 60% fewer
fatalities at roundabouts than at traffic intersections, including signaled ones.
•Roundabouts are slow (capacity per lane = 1200 vs. 1900 vph ) and cause much
traffic congestion during rush hours
•Saturated traffic flow from a resting state is a rarefaction wave.

• Flow rate (vehicles passing per unit time) = vehicular density (vehicles per unit
length) x “sound speed” (length traveled per unit time)
ZERO TRAFFIC CONFLICT (ZTC) INTERSECTIONS
A turning movement is an ordered pair of directions (legs stemming from an
intersection)
A maximal ZTC road intersection is one in which no additional turning movement
can be added while keeping the other with zero conflict.
A “sidewalk” turn can never conflict with any other turning movement.
CONFLICT-FREE 4 WAY INTERSECTIONS
All maximal conflict-free 4 way intersections with 4 right sidewalk turns

The familiar four conflict-free intersections permitted by Israeli traffic signals.

Lemma: In fact, any adjacent legs that are both 1-way would allow additional
turning movement with one change, so it cannot be maximal ZTC intersection
SOME RECOMMENDATTIONS

• 1) Unit-1 Market and Market Building unit-2 intersection area is mainly

commercial area. A lot of economic activities are accumulating here. If
government takes better planning, it may reduce damage of the
businessmen for the construction of flyover.
• 2) Government didn’t give proper attention for businessmen and land
owners. Government gave a small amount of compensation compare to
total loss. It is essential to compensate affected people. When a new
project will be implemented, government should give priority for
compensation.
• 3) Many workers lost their job on the adjacent shops. Government
could create opportunity for those workers.
• 4) Businessmen claimed that they cannot handle goods easily because
of narrow footpath. Proper planning could solve this problem.
CONCLUSION

• "The six-lane flyover has sufficient space for carriageway, median,

footpath, service road and utility corridor. It has been constructed
keeping in mind the increase in traffic over the next 20 years. The
traffic is expected to grow around 6% per annum. So the bridge
ultimately reduce the traffic load.
• As a transport improvement, flyover is an advance tool which involves
high technology and lots of resources. As being a superstructure, it has
many prerequisite to function effectively such as extra land in the
intersection, available by-pass roads etc. The present service of the
flyover can be ensured through opening the cantonment roads for
public use.
• Cities don’t need traffic signals, except
possibly for pedestrians.
• Travel time would probably be reduced with
conflict-free routing.
• Optimizing solution an unsolved problem,
but not hopeless.
