Diplozoids (Diplozoidae, Monogenea) are fish ectoparasites with a direct life cycle without intermediate hosts. Their free
swimming larva, the oncomiracidium, hatches from eggs, invades a fish host and metamorphoses into a post-oncomiracidial
larval stage, the diporpa. Later, two diporpae fuse and live as a pair in cross-copulation during their adult life. This
monogeneans uses four pairs of clamps (four each on the left and right side of the haptor) and a pair of relatively small hooks
for posterior attachment at the host secondary gill lamellae .
From January to July 2016, 200 fish individuals from the Sava River were collected and parasitological examined. Aim was to
reveal ectoparasitic species. Fish sample was collected using fishing nets in cooperation with commercial fisherman.
Parasitological analyze was conducted using microscopic tehnique and morphometrical parameters. As a result of investigation,
8 individuals of Eudiplozoon nipponicum, a monogenean trematode species were collected from the gills of Barbus barbus,
Abramis brama and Blicca bjoerkna.
This gill monogenean is recorded in Hungary carp fish farms, in France, in Czech Republic and now in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Eudiplozoon nipponicum origin from Japan and after introduction with amur wild carp and common carp a new habitat are
Russia and Central Europe.
