ANTISANA ECOLOGICAL

RESERVE

Antisana is an ecological reserve, in its
territory impressive landscapes and a very
diverse wild life have been created.
The landscapes of this reserve are marked by the volcanic activity of Antisana.
The last eruption of this volcano was 300 years ago and it was known as
"reventazón de antisanilla" and the petrified remains of lava can be observed
when going up to the Mica lagoon.
The biodiversity of the
Antisana reserve has 418
species of birds, 73 of
mammals and 61 of
amphibians and reptiles.

The Antisana is a geographical space worthy of admiration specially for the way in
which different species of animal and vegetation can coexist in harmony, because it was
declared a National Park. It is also important to consider that it is a tourist center,
