DEACTIVATION, REACTIVATION, AND

CANCELATION OF VOTER’S REGISTRATION

HOW TO DEACTIVATE REGISTRATION?

 Removing of registration record from precinct book of voters and place


the same, properly marked and dated in indelible ink, in the inactive file
after entering the cause or causes of deactivation (sec. 27, RA 8189):
a. sentenced by final judgment to suffer imprisonment for not less
than one (1) year.

b. adjudged by final judgment for having caused/committed any


crime involving disloyalty to the duly constituted government:
 Rebellion, sedition, violation of anti-subversion and firearm law
 Crimes against national security
HOW TO DEACTIVATE REGISTRATION?

c. declared to be insane or incompetent.

d. did not vote in the two (2) successive preceding


regular elections (SK election – not regular election.

e. registration has been ordered excluded by the


Court.

f. those who has lost his Filipino citizenship


HOW TO DEACTIVATE REGISTRATION?

 Certified List of disqualified under sec. 27(A) RA 8189


shall be furnish to Election Officer of the city or
municipality concerned at the end of each month.
 Election Officer shall post in the bulletin board of his
office a certified list of those persons whose registration
were deactivated
HOW TO REACTIVATE REGISTRATION?

 File with the Election Officer a sworn application for


reactivation of registration stating the ground of
deactivation (sec. 28, RA 8189):.

 120 days before a regular election


 90 days before special election.
HOW TO REACTIVATE REGISTRATION?

 Election Officer shall submit said application to the Election


Registration Board for appropriate action.

 If approved, retrieval of record from the inactive file and


include the same in the corresponding precinct book of voters.

 Local heads or representatives of political parties shall be


properly notified on approved applications
HOW TO CANCEL REGISTRATION?

 Board shall cancel the registration records of those who have


died as certified by the Local Civil Registrar (sec. 28, RA 8189).
 Monthly submission of list to election officer of those who have
died during previous month, where the deceased are registered.
 Absence of information of registered precinct, list shall be sent
to city or municipality if deceased’s residence as appeared in his
death certificate.
 Posting in bulletin board of the list and furnishing the local
heads of the political parties, the national central file and the
provincial file.
