The Highlighted area indicates the style of Kitchen Hood, Fire Suppression System,
Control Package, Exhaust Fan, Supply Fan or Make-up Air Units.

The photo changes with


the type of product that

To start the selection process, click on the + sign next to the highlighted product that meets
the job requirements. The highlighted product selection will then drop open to display all of
the available models.

Two main methods for Hood Selection are Greenheck and Volume Methods. The Greenheck Method utilizes the appliance
line-up to determine the volume and size of hoods required. The Volume Methods require the hood size and volume to be
input by the user.

What effect does the answer to the current


question have on the selected leadtime. Possible
answers that are displayed: No Effect, Standard
and 10 Day.
The user may select the Discharge Percentage (supply hoods only).
This is user definable from 1% to 100% with 80%
as the default answer.

The user may select the Discharge Type (supply hoods only). The
available choices are: Perforated and Registers.

The user may select the Filter Height. The available choices are: 20, 16,
and Optimize.

The user may select the Zero Clearance to


Combustibles Option. The available
choices are: No and Yes.

To continue the user must click on the


Cooking Battery Subtab.
Appliances are labeled with item numbers and are
aligned from left to right. The appliances will be
shown under the appropriate hood section for
proper jobsite orientation.

Each section of the hood will be tagged with its own


identity for proper jobsite orientation.

Click this box if you understand the cooking


appliance to hood orientation and you do not want

to view this screen again.


To continue the user must
click on the Close Button.
The user may select if the appliances utilize solid
fuel. The available choices are: No and Yes.
If Yes, the program will limit the appliance choices
due to codes requiring that solid fuel appliances
must be on an independent system.

The user may input the appliance item number


from the jobsite plans. If not, the program will
auto-number each appliance.

The user must select the appliance type from


the drop down list. All of the appliances are in
alphabetical order. The appliance list is letter
sensitive. Therefore, typing the first letter of
the appliance name will short cut the scrolling
process. Also, some appliances are listed
more than once under different names (ie.
Chinese Range, Chinese Stove and Wok). The
appliance names with the … after (ex.
Range…) indicates that an Appliance Type
Pop-Up with additional questions will appear
if selected.
Appliance Type Pop-Up for: Fry Top Range, Griddle, Grill, Hot
Top Range, Open Top Range, Range and Stock Pot Range.

The user may select With a Shelf.


The available choices are: No and Yes.

The user may select With a Broiler.


The available choices are: No and Yes.

to the Cooking Battery SubTab.
When utilizing the Greenheck Method the
program will automatically place the proper
overhang based on the first appliance type.

The user must select the Fuel


The user must select the Length. This is user definable.
Type. The available choices are

Appliance Specific. The Choice
Groups are:
Gas, Electric and Steam. The user must select the Depth. This is user definable.

An ERROR Pop-Up will alert the user that
either the Length or Depth dimension that
was entered is less than the minimum or
greater than the maximum allowed within the
program.

To continue, the user must click the OK


Button and change the dimension that
exceeds the program limits.
The user must re-select the Depth below the maximum
that was indicated in the Error Pop-Up.

This is a non-selectable field for the user that


displays the Cooking Equipment Surface
Area that is being utilized for this selection.

This is a non-selectable field for the user that


displays the Updraft Velocity Factor that is
being utilized for this appliance.

This is a non-selectable field for the user that


displays the Volume Calculated for this
appliance.

After keying in the Appliance Depth the


user must hit enter for the program to
accept the line in the grid an to drop down
to the next line.
The user may select the Spacing for second appliance. This is
user definable from 0” to 192”. If the user leaves the space blank
or Tabs over this field, the program will automatically input the
default value.
Appliance Type Pop-Up for: Chinese Range, Chinese Stove and
Wok.

The user may select the Number of Bowls.


This is user definable from 1 to 10 with 1 as
the default answer.

The user may select the Bowl Diameter


(largest). This is user definable from 12” to
36” with 18” as the default answer.

To continue the user must click on the OK


Button to save the changes made and return
to the Cooking Battery SubTab.
Appliance Type Pop-Up for: Conveyorized Pizza Oven, Deck
Oven, Pizza Oven and Upright Broiler.

The user may select the Number of Decks.


This is user definable from 1 to 3 with 1 as
the default answer.

To continue the user must click on the OK

to the Cooking Battery SubTab.
If the previous appliance was the last in the
equipment line-up the user can hit the Up
Arrow or ESC Key to remove this line from
the grid.
To remove a line in the appliance This action will cause this verification Pop-Up to appear. If
grid, select the line and click the the highlighted item is within the line to be deleted select
Right Mouse Button. The user would Yes or hit Enter Key.
select Delete a line.
To move a line in the appliance grid,
select the line and click the Right

Move Up or Move Down.

After all the appliances have been selected


and the list verified for this application the

is being utilized for this selection.

The user may select the Hood Width. The available choices are model specific.
The drop down window shows the available sizes. The program will select the
minimum allowable size for the appliance line-up.

The left and right overhangs are the distance


from the inside end of the hood to the edge of
the first appliance. The program will use the
minimum allowable overhang. The left
overhang is an editable dimension that the
user may change due to jobsite conditions or
requirements.
This is a non-selectable field for the user
that displays the Minimum Required Hood
Length that is being utilized for this
selection.

The user may select the Hood Height. The


available choices are: 24 or 30.

The user may select the Hood Material. The


available choices are: 304 Stainless Steel or
430 Stainless Steel.

The user may select the Hood Material


thickness. The available choices are: 18
Gauge or 16 Gauge.
The program displays the recommended hood length based on the information that
has been input on the previous screens. The user may increase the length of the
hood by overwriting this field. The program will re-calculate the selection based on
this new information. The program will then display the new data and will change the
Greenheck Method to with Dimensions, indicating that the user has made changes to

the original recommendations.

The program displays the recommended


Exhaust CFM based on the information that
has been input on the previous screens. The
user may increase the Exhaust CFM of the
hood by overwriting this field. The program
will re-calculate the selection based on this
new information. The program will then
display the new data and will change the
Greenheck Method to with Dimensions,
indicating that the user has made changes to
the original recommendations.

The program displays the recommended


Exhaust Duct Collar Size based on the
information that has been input on the
previous screens. The user may change the
Exhaust Duct Collar Size of the hood by
clicking the …Button at the end of this field.
The user must place the cursor into this field
for the …Button to appear.

The user may select the Exhaust and/or Supply Duct Positions #1 and #2. This is user definable. The minimums and
maximums are hood style and type specific. The program will allow the Exhaust and/or Supply Duct Positions to be
moved to the right or left of centerline of the hood length.

The user may select the Exhaust and/or Supply Duct Length. The drop-down window will show the available choices
which are hood style and type specific. The sizes shown will maintain the proper duct velocities required by code

The user may select the Exhaust and/or Supply Duct Width. The drop-down window will show the available choices
which are hood style and type specific. The sizes shown will maintain the proper duct velocities required by code.

The user may select any Exhaust and/or Supply Duct Quantities. The available choices are: 1 and 2. The program will not
allow 2 duct collars if the Volume is below the minimum requirements. Hoods longer than 144” the default changes to a
quantity of 2.

based on the information that has been input on the previous screens.

This is non-selectable field for the user that displays the


Exhaust Duct Velocity based on the information that has been

When the application requires multiple
hoods under the same Mark, the
program will show each section
independently. This dropdown allows
the user to switch between sections of
the hood Mark.

Plan View:
The program displays a typical plan
view of the product based on the
information that has been input on the
previous screens.
Cooking Battery:
The program displays a typical plan
view of the cooking battery and hood
for verification of placement based on
the information that has been input on
the previous screens.
Overall Plan View:
The program displays a Overall Plan
View of the hood(s) for verification of
hood placement based on the
information that has been input on the
previous screens.
The SDRs / Notes Tab allows the user to input important job related information.

The user may select the Add Button if a


Special Design is required. The Add will
cause a SDR Pop-Up with additional
questions to appear if selected.

The program will allow the user to input


notes of 1000+ characters in length.
However, this will impact the overall look of
the submittal.
Special Design Request Number: Since a
Factory Authorization to provide this special
is required, a unique number is given to this
for tracking purposes.

The program will allow the user to input a


description of the special requirement of up
to 45 characters in length.

The user may select the Pricing Method. The


available choices are: Each, Square Foot,
Linear Foot and Section.

The program will allow the user to input a


List Price (determined by Factory).

to the SDRs/Notes Tab.
The user may select the type of Lights. The available choices are:
Incandescent, Recessed Incandescent and Fluorescent. The
Incandecsent… answer indicates that a Incandescent Light Intensity
Pop-Up with additional questions will appear if selected.
The user may select the Light Intensity
(fc). The available choices are: 20, 30, 40,
50 and 60.

To continue the user must click on the OK

return to the Accessories Tab.
The user may select if Filler Panels are required. The available
choices are: No and Yes. The Yes… answer indicates that a Filler
Panels Pop-Up with additional questions will appear if selected.
The user may select the Filler Panel Width. This is user definable from 3” to 24”.

The program displays several question that may or may not be user editable
based on the information that has been input on the previous screens. The
answers to the questions displayed determine the quantity and type of panels
that are required.

This is non-selectable field for the user that


displays the Filler Panel Material. The Filler
Panels will be constructed of the same
material as the Hood.

The user may select if the Filler Panels are to


be Factory Attached. The available choices
are: No and Yes.

The program displays a typical plan view of


the Filler Panels and hood for verification of
placement based on the information that has
been input on the previous screens. This
screen will update each time a change is
made. If the user changes the bottom from
Yes to No, the drawing changes.

If a copy of this plan view is required click the


Print Button.

To continue the user must click on the OK


Button to save the changes made and return
to the Accessories Tab.
The user may select if Enclosure Panels are required. The available
choices are: No and Yes. The Yes… answer indicates that an
Enclosure Panels Pop-Up with additional questions will appear if
selected.
The user may select the Enclosure Panel Height. This is user definable from 3” to
44” with 6” as the default answer.

This is non-selectable field for the user that displays the Enclosure Panel
Material. The Enclosure Panels will be constructed of the same material as the
Hood.

The program displays a typical plan view of


the Enclosure Panels and hood for verification
of placement based on the information that
has been input on the previous screens. Note
that because Filler Panels were previously
selected for this project the program will also
both of these accessories.

If a copy of this plan view is required click the


Print Button.

To continue the user must click on the OK


Button to save the changes made and return
to the Accessories Tab.
The user may select if Backsplash Panels are required. The available
choices are: No and Yes. The Yes… answer indicates that a
Backsplash Panels Pop-Up with additional questions will appear if
selected.
The user may select the Insulation Option. The
available choices are: No and Yes. The Yes
answer will make the Thickness question
editable.

When editable the user may select the Thickness


Option. The available choices are: 1” and 2”.

The user may select the Rear Backsplash Panel


Option. The available choices are: Yes and No.

The user may select the Left End Panel Length.


This is user definable from 1” to 999,999” with
Hood Width as the default answer.

The user may select the Left End Backsplash


Panel. The available choices are: Yes and No.
Left End and Right End Panel options will
appear when Hood End conditions are: Wall or
Partial Wall.

The user may select the Left End Panel Length.


This is user definable from 1” to 999,999” with
Hood Width as the default answer.

The user may select the Panel Height. This is


user definable from 12” to 120” with 78” as the
default answer for Canopy Hoods and 45”
Backshelf Hoods.

To continue the user must click on the OK

Plenum is required. The available choices
are: No and Yes.

The user may select if a Cabinet is required.


The available choices are: No, Yes. The
Yes… answer indicates that a Cabinets
Pop-Up with additional questions will
appear if selected.
The user may select a Fire Cabinet Option.
The available choices are: None, Left, Right,
Both. Some choices many not be available
due to previously selected options,
accessories or jobsite conditions.

The user may select a Controls/Utility


Cabinet Option. The available choices are:
None, Left, Right, Both. Some choices
many not be available due to previously
selected options, accessories or jobsite
conditions.

The available choices are: No and Yes. The

The user may select the Mounting Option. The


available choices are: Mounted and Remote. The
Mounted answer will make the Mounting
Location question editable.

When editable the user may select the Mounting


Location. The available choices are: Fire
Suppression System Cabinet and Hood. The
Mounting Location answer of Hood will make the
Mounting Position question editable.

When editable the user may select the Mounting


Position. The available choices are: Right End
and Left End.

To continue the user must click on the OK


Button to save the changes made and return to
the Accessories Tab.
The user may select if All Stainless Steel
Construction is required. The available
choices are: No and Yes.

The user may select the Filter Removal Tool.


The available choices are: No and Yes.

The user may select the Flanged Duct Collars.


The available choices are: No and Yes.

The user may select the Trim Strips. The


available choices are: No and Yes. The Yes…
answer indicates that a Trim Strips Pop-Up
with additional questions will appear if
selected.
The user may select the Trim Strip Length.
This is user definable from 12” to 999”.

The user may select the Balancing Baffle Plenum Option. The available
choices are: No and Yes.

The user may select the Continuous Capture Plenum Option. The
available choices are: No and Yes.

The user may select the Grease Cup Position. The available choices
are: Right End and Left End.
Add Mark: If a New Mark is to be added to the Job File the user may click on the
Add Mark Icon. This should be done after the user saves the previous Mark to the
File. If the Add Mark is selected without saving the previous mark, the program will
discard the previous selection without saving.

Add New Model: The user may click the New Model Icon after a valid selection has
been made. This should be done after the user saves the previous Mark to the File.
If the Add Mark is selected without saving the previous mark, the program will
discard the previous selection without saving.

Save: The user may click the Save Icon after a


valid selection has been made. If an invalid or
incomplete selection has occurred the program
will disable the Save Icon until the problem has
been corrected.

AutoCAD Drawing(s): The user may click the


AutoCAD Icon after a valid selection has been
made and saved. This button will allow the user
to download AutoCAD File(s) for CAPS items
selected (Internet access is required).

Print Report: The user may click the Print Report


Icon after a valid selection has been made and
saved to a Job File. If an invalid or incomplete
selection has occurred, and the Print Report is
selected, the program will only print valid saved
selections until the problem has been corrected.
