Adverbs is a classification of words or part of speech that
modify verbs. They tell us how we do something. It
answers the question, “How did you ……..?”
Examples:
1. They speak softly.

2. rapid + ly = rapidly
3. serious + ly = seriously
4. bad + ly = badly
5. cheerful + ly = cheerfully
Adjectives that ends in y, change y to i and add ly to form
the adverb.
Examples:
easy = easy i + ly = easily
noisy = noisy i + ly = noisily
happy = happy i + ly = happily
lazy = lazy i + ly = lazily
stingy = stingy i + ly = stingily
greasy = greasy i + ly = greasiy
messy = messy i + ly = messily
greedy = greedy i + ly = greedily
angry = angry i + ly = angrily
However, some words can be used as either adjectives or adverbs without
any changes in form.
Examples:
1. Tom is a hard worker. (as adjective).
