STONEHENGE
Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument located in the
English county of Wiltshire, about 2.0 miles (3.2 km)
west ofAmesbury and 8 miles (13 km) north of Salisbury.
One of the most famous sites in the world, Stonehenge
is composed of a circular setting of large standing
stones set within earthworks. It is at the centre of the
most dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze
Age monuments in England, including several
hundred burial mounds.
Stonehenge was produced by a culture that left no
written records. Many aspects of Stonehenge remain
subject to debate. This multiplicity of theories, some
of them very colourful, are often called the "mystery
of Stonehenge" Proposed functions for the site
include usage as an astronomical observatory, or as a
religious site.
Archaeologists believe the stone monument was
constructed anywhere from 3000 BC to 2000 BC
The site and its surroundings were added to
the UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 1986
The University of Oxford is the oldest
university in the English speaking world and
one of the most famous and prestigious
higher education institutions of the world,
averaging five applications to every available

30 ST MARY AXE
It is a skyscraper in London's financial
district, the City of London, completed in
December 2003 and opened at the end of
May 2004. With 41 floors, the tower is 180
metres (591 ft) tall, and stands on the site of
the former Baltic Exchange, which was
extensively damaged in 1992 by the
explosion of a bomb placed by
the Provisional IRA.
After the plans to build the Millenium
Tower were dropped, 30 St Mary Axe was
designed by Norman Foster and
Arub engineers, and was erected
by Skanska in 2001–2003. The building has
become an iconic symbol of London and is
one of the city's most widely recognised
examples of modern architecture.

and is the world's oldest scientific zoo
founded over 180 years ago. It can be found
in the heart of London. it is run by the
Zoological Society of London.
Although this zoo is located in the middle of
the city it still has plenty of animals to see
including lions, camels, giraffes, penguins,
tigers, monkeys and meerkats. In fact there
are 750 different species of animals making it
one of the largest collections of animals in
the UK.
