The Apostles’ Creed
I Believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of
heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; Who
was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of
Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried; He
descended into hell; the third day He rose
again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the
right hand of God the Father Almighty; from
thence He shall come to judge the quick and
the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Universal
Church; the communion of saints; the
forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the
body; and the life everlasting. Amen

Worship His Holy name
Sing like never before

The sun comes up
It’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass
And whatever lies before me
Let me be singing
When the evening comes
Bless the Lord O my soul
O my soul
Worship His Holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship Your Holy name
You’re rich in love
And You’re slow to anger
Your name is great
And Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness
I will keep on singing

Ten thousand reasons

For my heart to find
Bless the Lord O my soul
O my soul
Worship His Holy name
Sing like never before

I’ll worship Your Holy name
And on that day
When my strength is failing
The end draws near
And my time has come
Still my soul will
Sing Your praise unending

Ten thousand years

And then forevermore
Bless the Lord O my soul
O my soul
Worship His Holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship Your Holy name
Cornerstone
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus' name

X2
Christ alone; cornerstone
Weak made strong; in the Saviour's love
Through the storm, He is Lord
Lord of all
When Darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
My anchor holds within the veil
Christ alone; cornerstone
Weak made strong; in the Saviour's love
Through the storm, He is Lord
Lord of all

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless stand before the throne.
What a beautiful name
You were the Word at the beginning
One With God the Lord Most High
Your hidden glory in creation
Now revealed in You our Christ
What a beautiful Name it is
What a beautiful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King
What a beautiful Name it is
Nothing compares to this
What a beautiful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
You didn't want heaven without us
So Jesus, You brought heaven down
My sin was great, Your love was greater
What could separate us now
What a wonderful Name it is
What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King
What a wonderful Name it is
Nothing compares to this
What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
Death could not hold You, the veil tore before
You
You silenced the boast, of sin and grave
The heavens are roaring, the praise of Your
glory
For You are raised to life again

You have no rival, You have no equal

Now and forever, Our God reigns
Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the glory
Yours is the Name, above all names
What a powerful Name it is
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King
What a powerful Name it is
Nothing can stand against
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
You have no rival, You have no equal
Now and forever, Our God reigns
Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the glory
Yours is the Name, above all names

What a powerful Name it is

What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King
What a powerful Name it is
Nothing can stand against
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus

• Passage: Gen 4:1-27
1 Adam a lay with his wife Eve, and she became
pregnant and gave birth to Cain. b She said, "With the
help of the Lord I have brought forth c a man."
2 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel.

Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil.

3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the

fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord.

4 But Abel brought fat portions from some of the

firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on

Abel and his offering,
5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with
favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was
downcast.
6 Then the Lord said to Cain, "Why are you angry?

Why is your face downcast?

7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted?

But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at

your door; it desires to have you, but you must
master it."
8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to

the field." d And while they were in the field, Cain

attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
9 Then the Lord said to Cain, "Where is your brother
Abel?"
"I don't know," he replied. "Am I my brother's
keeper?"
10 The Lord said, "What have you done? Listen! Your

brother's blood cries out to me from the ground.

11 Now you are under a curse and driven from the

ground, which opened its mouth to receive your

brother's blood from your hand.
12 When you work the ground, it will no longer yield

its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on

the earth."
13 Cain said to the Lord, "My punishment is more
than I can bear.
14 Today you are driving me from the land, and I will

be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless

wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will
kill me."
15 But the Lord said to him, "Not so e; if anyone kills

Cain, he will suffer vengeance seven times over."

Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one
who found him would kill him.
16 So Cain went out from the Lord's presence and

lived in the land of Nod, f east of Eden.

17 Cain lay with his wife, and she became pregnant
and gave birth to Enoch. Cain was then building a
city, and he named it after his son Enoch.
18 To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad was the father of

Mehujael, and Mehujael was the father of

Methushael, and Methushael was the father of
Lamech.
19 Lamech married two women, one named Adah

and the other Zillah.

20 Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the father of

those who live in tents and raise livestock.

21 His brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of

all who play the harp and flute.

22 Zillah also had a son, Tubal-Cain, who forged all
kinds of tools out of g bronze and iron. Tubal-Cain's
sister was Naamah.
23 Lamech said to his wives, "Adah and Zillah, listen

to me; wives of Lamech, hear my words. I have killed

h a man for wounding me, a young man for injuring

me.
24 If Cain is avenged seven times, then Lamech

seventy-seven times."
25 Adam lay with his wife again, and she gave birth to

a son and named him Seth, i saying, "God has

granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain
killed him."
26Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh.
At that time men began to call on j the name of the
Lord.

CAIN REJECTS GOD'S SOVEREIGNTY
Key Verse: 4:7
7 If you do what is right, will you not be
accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin
is crouching at your door; it desires to have you,
but you must master it."
• 1 Adam a lay with his wife Eve, and she became
pregnant and gave birth to Cain. b She said,
"With the help of the Lord I have brought forth c
a man."
• 2 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel. Now
Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil.
• 28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be
fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and
subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the
birds of the air and over every living creature
that moves on the ground
• 3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the
fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. 4 But
Abel brought fat portions from some of the
firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor
on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his
offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was
very angry, and his face was downcast.
• Heb 11:4, 4 By faith Abel offered God a better
sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was
commended as a righteous man, when God
spoke well of his offerings. And by faith he still
speaks, even though he is dead.
• 1 Sam 15:22,
22 But Samuel replied: "Does the LORD delight in
burnt offerings and sacrifices
as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To
obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better
than the fat of rams.

• Ps 51:16-17, 16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or

I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in
burnt offerings. 17 The sacrifices of God are c a
broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God,
you will not despise.
• Jeremiah17:10 "I the LORD search the heart and
examine the mind, to reward each person
according to their conduct, according to what
their deeds deserve."
• 7 If you do what is right, will you not be
accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin
is crouching at your door; it desires to have you,
but you must master it."
• 2 Cor 13:7, Now we pray to God that you will not
do anything wrong. Not that people will see that
we have stood the test but that you will do what
is right even though we may seem to have failed.
• Matt 15:19-20,19 For out of the heart come evil
thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality,
theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what
make a man 'unclean'; but eating with unwashed
hands does not make him 'unclean.'"
• 8, Now Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go
out to the field." d And while they were in the
field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed
him.
• James 1:13-15
• 13 When tempted, no one should say, "God is
tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by
evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each one
is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is
dragged away and enticed. 15 Then, after desire
has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when
it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
11 Now you are under a curse and driven from the
ground, which opened its mouth to receive your
brother's blood from your hand. 12 When you
work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for
you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth."
• “Rom. 6:23, “…but the gift of God is eternal life in
Christ Jesus our Lord”.
• 13 Cain said to the Lord, "My punishment is

The Lord’s prayer
Our Father, which art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom
come, Thy will be done on earth as it is
in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive
our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from the evil: For Thine is
the kingdom, and the power, and the
glory, forever.
Amen
