Drop Analysis

• Call drop occurred due to “Unspecified Protocol Error” during the transmission.
• Just before the Call Drop, Active sets U9 server were in good RF conditions. As for CS, RSCP should be greater than -
105dbm and EcIo should be better than -13dB.

BLER = 0.5%

• There was BLER of 0.5% up to 10 secs. It means there were many erroneous transport blocks transmitted up to about
10 sec. Which may cause for the Call drop due to “Unspecified Protocol Error”.
• During this period, UE latched with U21 severs with poor RSCP and poor EcIo.
Drop Analysis

• During 0.5% BLER, Active sets have poor RSCP and poor EcIo.
• Below are the analysis and justification for poor RSCP.

• The marked area has poor RSCP as well

poor EcIo.

• None of Site/ Sector is oriented towards

this area for dominancy. This area lying
in the null lobe from all 1st tier sites.

• All 1st tier sites are more than 1.3 km far.

• Poor coverage area also lying on high

terrain and surrounded by dense
vegetation, which faded the signals.

• Poor EcIo is because of Poor RSRP.

Handover Failure Analysis
• Inter Frequency Handover Failure from U2100 to U900 occurred due to “Physical Channel Failure”.

• Physical Channel Failure happened when timer T312 expired during establishment of a physical channel. This failure
occurred due to poor RF condition of target cell.

• Below is the RF condition of serving U2100 & target U900, During triggering of IFHO.

• RF of Active U2100 cell (PSC 279) was Ok (RSCP = -

98dBm & EcIo = -10.5dB)

• RF of targeted cell (PSC 364) was poor (RSCP = -103dBm

& EcIo = -17.0dB)

• Need to Check the IFHO triggering thresholds.

• Need to Check the HO strategy from U2100 to U900.

• For analysis of Poor RF and recommendation, Refer to

slide 21 to 27. This belongs from same area.

Poor Coverage Analysis & Justification – Area 2
• Area 2 is about 400m long patch.

• But to terrain profile, Coverage from nearest sites, faded.

Vegetation blockage on both side of Highway

• Dense vegetation around the both side of the highway,

also faded the signals and responsible for degrade of
Coverage in Area 2.
