Effect of Mid-day Meal

on MP Result
Presented by:-

Introduction
The Midday Meal Scheme is a school meal programme of the government of
India designed to improve the nutritional status of school-age children nationwide. The
programme supplies free lunches on working days for children in primary and upper
primary classes. The objective of the scheme is to help improve the effectiveness
of education by improving the nutritional status of school children and also to
increase the enrollment ratio.
But for this scheme a school has to face a lot of disturbance(administrative
problems) which may also effect the result of the higher class student like
MP(Madhyamik Pariksha) students.
So, it is basically a trade off. By our project we studied a particular
school’s(Krishnanagar High School) MP results of six(3 pre and 3 post) years. And try
to come to a decision…..
Objective:-
The key objective of the study is as follows:
➢To study the disturbance for midday meal is really has any
effect of this years MP results.
Method of data collection:-
Step 1:
We choose a Madhyamik school in our locality and collect this school’s 6 years MP
result from 2009 t0 2014 and the midday meal is started at this school from 2012.
We found the population-

Various years MP results:-

Statistical tools used…
➢For this data analysis we choose t-test to decide whether
there has any really significant association between midday meal
program and the result of MP of this school.
➢Use STATA software for calculation.
Hypothesis:

The null hypothesis is following,

H0:There is no significant association between Midday meal Program and the MP result of the
school.
H0: µ1=µ2
H1:There is significant association between Midday meal Program and the MP result of the
school.
H1: µ1≠µ2

Conclusion:-
From the above result we have seen that at 5% level of significance H0 is
accepted.
Ha: diff < 0 Ha: diff != 0 Ha: diff >

Pr (T < t) = 0.8643 Pr (|T| > |t|) = 0.2715 Pr (T > t) = 0.1357
Because here, p-value greater than level of significance.
Finally we conclude that, There is no significant association between Midday meal
Program and the MP result of the school(µ1=µ2).
