MOTIVATION

• The term motivation derived from the Latin word


“mover” which means to move or to energize

• Anything which is responsible for internal and


external activity may be called Motivation

• Atkinson defined motivation as the arousal of


tendency to act, to produce one or more effect.
Types of Motivation

1. Intrinsic motivation
it is a force inside the individual and works
from within individual.
Eg: 1. Intention to learn
2. Imitation tendency

it refers to force outside the individual and
which are tied to the environment.
Eg: 1. Goal
2. Praise and Blame
Need and Significants

• It energies the learner and thus initiates


learning activity.
• It releases tension
• It controls the learning behaviour of the
individual
• It sustains activity when a goal is not
immediately available
