Problem Statement

 Determine how much energy is available at 5 ft3/h (at 60


psig, 25 °C) fuel stream that is primarily methane
 Air is approximately 80 mol-% N2 and 20 mol-% O2 and at
25 °C
 There should be 10% excess oxygen in the air stream to
ensure lean enough mixture
 Assume exhaust stream is at 182 °C
 Report: Heat available in kW, and air flowrate in mol/h and
ft3/h (at 1 atm)
