 ABSTRACT

•Smart home is regarded as an independent healthy living for

elderly person.

•Advances in phone technology and new style of computing

paradigm (i.e., cloud computing) permits real time acquisition,
processing, and tracking of activities in smart home.

•Smartphone application communicates with cloud through web

services and assists the elderly person to complete their daily life
activities.

 INTRODUCTION

• We assume smart home as an intelligent agent to perceive the

environment and process the sensory data on cloud.

• In this project we aim to develop an android smartphone application

to assist elderly people for independent living in their own homes.

• This application facilitates the care giver assistant by tracking the

elderly persons in their own homes and avoid certain accidents.
Furthermore, it also helps the family members to track the activities,
when they are away from home.

 Embedded Unit
Microcontroller: ➢Renesas(R5F100LE) microcontroller is used,which
belongs to 8051 family and RL78 subfamily.
➢It’s a 16-bit microcontroller & has 11 ports(P0-P7 and
P12,P13,P14)with 64-pins.
➢It consists of a built-in LCD base and three UARTs.

➢We use 16x2 ALCD.

ALCD:
➢The first row of the display starts with the address 0x80 and second
row starts with 0xc0.
➢It has 8 data pins(D0-D7) and 6 more pins(like ack, RW, reset,
erase,drain and Vcc).
GSM: ➢We are be using SIM800C GSM Module in our project which
works o frequencies GSM 850MHz,EGSM 900Mhz,etc.
➢It has one sim card interface.
➢It has flash memory of 24Mbits,RAM of 32bits and power supply
voltage of 3.4V and 4.4V
Temp. Sensor: We use LM35 integrated-circuit temperature sensor.
It has 3 pins(Vcc,GND and input)
It initially displays room temperature.
Smoke/Gas Leakage Sensor:MQ-7 series sensor is used.It consists of
4 pins(Vcc,GND,A0 and D0)
It’s a device that senses smoke typically
as an indicator of fire and issues a signal to
fire alarm.
FNM16P module: FN-M16P module is a 16 pins serial MP3 module
that is with a perfect integrated MP3 and WMV
decoder chip.
It provides micro SD card driver, and supports
FAT16 and FAT32 file systems. It is able to play back
specified sound files and realize other functions
through simple serial commands.
RF Receiver & Transmitter: RWS 434 RF Receiver is used and TWS 434
RF Transmitter is used.
They work on frequency 433MHz with
operating voltage 4.5V-5.5V
RF transmitter receives serial data and
transmits to the receiver through an
antenna which is connected to the 4th pin of
the transmitter.
RF Decoder and RF Encoder:The RF module is often used along with a
pair of encoder/decoder.
The encoder is used for encoding parallel
data for transmission feed while reception
is decoded by a decoder.
HT12E-HT12D, HT640-HT648, etc. are
some commonly used encoder/decoder pair
ICs.

 CONCLUSION
• In this paper, we have utilized the smart phone, smart home, and
cloud computing services that may help to reduce the demands on
elder’s attentions and effort while performing daily life activities.

•It generates separate alerts for incomplete, critical, stable, and

scheduled events and overlooks activities for elderly persons.

•List of subscribed elderly persons, their last completed activities

and alerts for critical situations are generated for care givers and
family members.

•It reduces the health expenditures and burden of health care

professionals.

•Our application is well integrated with smart home environment
