400Hz POWER

SUPPLY
SYSTEM
INTRODUCTION
1. A specific type of systems for either above
ground or under ground supply of the
necessary services to aircraft should be
provided
2. The auxiliary equipments are used at airports
like tow bars, access stairs, connectors
etc.,
3. The power CADDY means that the whole
arrangements for the 400Hz power system

UNDER GROUND SUPPLY
SYSTEMS
1. The Above Ground Supply System can
be divided into Two Segments,

 Standard Under Floor Solutions

 Complete Tunnel System

2. Above these two segments will take

care of all the specific requirements
PRINCIPLES
1. On Board Battery is mounted on the
system
2. For the typical system,
(i) The Caddy2x90 which ensures two
hours of continuous operation
(ii) The Caddy180 – has one reel and
an On-Board 180kVA – 400Hz
Converter.
3. Caddy must be recharged at the parking
bay after the specified time period.
4. The Caddy is designed as per longer
transportation required
5. Motorized cable reel trolleys fitted
with up to two cable reels
6. The driven unit is a 24 VDC motor
7. Caddy can be driven in both
Reeling-in and Reeling-out
directions – totally automatic
reeling
8. The steering arm which retracts
automatically to a vertical position
when released

90KVA Caddy with

Double Cable Reel
1. Manual Power Caddy is fitted
with one reel for upto 35m of
400Hz Cable
2. The reel is driven by an electric
motor with hydrodynamic drive
for easy reeling and pulling the
Caddy back to the parking level
3. The unit is fitted with power
connector for the 400Hz
converter
4. This unit is a battery driven
Power Caddy for 30m of
(7x35mm2+6x4x1mm2) 400Hz
cable.
5. The reel is fitted with a 400Hz
slip ring to smoothly pay out the
cable while moving to and from
the airplane.

180KVA Caddy With

Single Cable Reel
1. The Caddy 180 is mounted with a
180kVA Solid State Converter.
2. It is fitted with a 25m of 50Hz cable
which is connected to the main
electrical system.
3. The solid state converter is mounted
on the re-chargeable battery driven
chassis for easy handling and drive
out to the airplane.
4. The unit is fitted with 2 cables
with 4 twisted braids
(1x50mm2 + 4x1mm2) of 8m
length with 400Hz connector for
easy connecting and
disconnecting.
5. The Caddy 180 automatically
recharges the battery when
supplying power to the aircraft.
PCA CADDY
Even when operating under extremely high
ambient temperatures, the PCA Caddy
managed without any problem to cool the
aircraft within the set parameters of the
test.

PCA CADDY UNIT

PCA CADDY
1. Caddy can cool most types of
aircraft significantly faster than
traditional cooling methods.
2. PCA Caddy is a motorized reel
trolley fitted with a state of the
art air pre-conditioning unit
3. This power plant ensures motor
assisted driving while either
reeling-in or reeling-out.
4. The motorized hose reel, fitted with
the compressed air hose, is fully
automatic in both reeling directions.
5. The hose reel is powered by a
400VAC Three phase frequency
controlled motor
6. The conditioned air output hose is
stored in the PCA Caddy, on top of
the air pre-conditioning unit
allowing for easy connection to
aircraft, without the need for
ladders.
7. The graph shows the output relate to
the cooling power used by the PCA
Caddy.

8. It
is Providing an even and constant
tension to the hose handling.
9.The unit can be locked to protect
against possible misuse or accidental
activation.
10.PCA Caddy is fitted with a towing
eye and the drive unit can be
technically disengaged if longer
transportation of the unit is required.
11.Thebattery loader is mounted on the
PCA Caddy itself and charges the
battery automatically when the main
power cable is connected.

Required Service Lines,

Cables & Hoses
1. Aircraft are serviced through various
auxiliary equipment when they are
being prepared to leave.

2. Problem may occur due to large

trucks, heavy diesel generators,
cables and hoses are needed on the
surface when supplying fuel, power,
water and pre-conditioned air.
3.Tosolve this problem, developed a
revolutionary underground system
which supplies the aircraft through
pop-up systems located very near
the parking line.

4.Type of under floor system are:

i. PCA - Supply System
Power

ii. Waste water and blue water

A suction hose with adapter

iii.400Hz / 28V Supply

The power cables required for the power supply

iv.Pop-up systems
These units lift up vertically to working height

v. Hatch-type systems
service including power, PCA and waste water disposal

vi.Hangar solutions
PCA - Power Supply System
1. The connecting hose, which is
required to transport the Pre-
conditioned air in the aircraft.

2. As this is a spiral hose - 1/10th

of its original length when stored.

3. A adapter is used at the top end

of the hose.
4. Push
buttons located above the
adapter allow the switching on and
off of the PCA equipment.
5. The proximity switch ensuring
activation or deactivation of the air-
conditioning unit is only allowed once
when the PCA pit is fully extended
Waste water and blue water
1. A suction hose with adapter is
attached to the pit – to removal of
waste water and supply of blue water.

2. The suction hose is stored on a

drum in the shaft, which is in turn
connected to a vacuum pump.

3. Thereis a second hose on the pit

system, for filling the blue water tank
in the aircraft.
Pop-up systems

1. These units lift up vertically to

working height and close flush with
the tarmac apron after operation.
Advantage:
can be rolled over at 90 t
easy handling at any time
400 Hz-Connectors above apron level
good accessible for maintenance
optional available maintenance cover
low maintenance cost
counter balanced lifting mechanism
adjustable pull out force
when fully extended there is no gap.
can be furnished or upgraded with sockets
and water outlets at any time
when unlocked and fully retracted it is flush
with the apron
water proof design
all parts hot galvanized, screws and fixing
parts in stainless steel
2. As a safety precaution the unit can
only be activated after turning a
handle and can only retract after
pressing on a foot pedal.

3. The system is pre-wired and is

delivered for immediate installation
on a pre-assembled frame.
This systems has a F900 (90 tones)
class rating.
Hatch-type systems
1. Access to these units is obtained through
lifting a counterbalanced cover.
2. All types of service
including power, PCA
and waste water
disposal can be
installed in this
system.
3. Optionally a fuel
exhaust filtering
system can also
be fitted
