What is Motivation? Cause or Effect?

 Is it a cause that leads to an


action?
 Or it is effect of an action?

 It is rather cyclical process in

regards to educational field.

 To break the
negative cycle
 And divert it’s

direction to
positive attitude
by modifying
cognitive process.
Complexity of Mind

 Motivation is a complex process, and it


evolves gradually. It involves sub-phases:
 Planning and goal setting
 Intension formation
 Task generation
 Action implementation
 Action control and outcome evaluation.
Consistency of
motivation
1. One can not be consistently motivated at
same pace and level for a long time. Such
as learning a foreign language.
2. It may fluctuate at any time, eg. Years,
months, days, or even in single lesson.
3. External environment influences on
motivation, such as
“Reward and Punishment”
Inner Process of Mind

shape human behavior.
 Human mind receives

information from society in


forms of value and norms
which shapes one’s
behavior.

Societal Perspective

 An individual is just
an “Agent”, where
an individuals’
perspectives are
exploited by very
large forces of the
society.
Eg. Conservative society = Conservative Individuals
