3D Printing

 The future of kids learning mathematics according to an article I

found on ProQuest, is 3-D printing.
 Introducing students to mathematics through technology can get
students excited because they are able to understand the subject,
and it is a fun way for them to get involved and to be
active in the lesson.
 An experiment was conducted at a summer camp in Texas to see
the effectiveness of these 3D printing and 3D software.
 The results revealed a statistically significant increase in some
mathematical skills, motivation, and technical skills.
What is 3D Printing?

 3-D printing is a manufacturing

process that builds layers to create
a three-dimensional solid object from
a digital model. During the print
process, the 3-D printer starts at the
bottom of the design and builds up
successive layers of material until the
object is finished.

3D Printing Pros
1. Using technology in classrooms is a fun way for students to get
involved in the lessons because they are able to understand the subject.
2. Softwares such as graphing calculators, Geometer's Sketchpad,
etransformation, and Geogebra can be used as effective technological
tools in teaching and learning, especially in mathematics classrooms.
Seeing real world applications through the use of technology also
motivates students to learn.
3. Adding technology to any discipline can be an effective approach to
teaching by enhancing students' technical skills and allowing them to
apply their skills to real-life.
4. The decrease in the cost of technology allows many schools to
implement technology into curriculums, making it more accessible to a
larger number of students.
3D Printing Cons

1. Even though there is research on how technology has

many benefits, some researchers do not agree.
2. Educators have concerns that students rely too much
on technology do not experience true learning.
3. An example they use is calculators. They are an easy
route and students are forgetting how to do basic
division or multiplication.
4. They are afraid 3D printing will cause the same effects.
