PROBLEM 6.12 (STOECKER)


• In some cryogenic liquefaction systems the temperature of a stream of liquid is
reduced by flashing off some of the liquid into vapor through a throttling valve and
heat exchanger as shown in Fig. 6-21. With the values shown in Fig. 6-21, use a
Newton-Raphson simulation to determine the flow rate of liquid leaving the heat
exchanger and its temperature.
Ans.: outlet temperature of liquid is 157.3 K.
