Health and Safety

 The promotion and safeguarding of children's health and safety.


 2 Standards and 6 Elements:
 Health: Each child’s health and physical activity is supported
and promoted;
 Safety: Each child is protected.
 Encourages learning about healthy lifestyle habits.
 Promotes responsibility of each students own healthy lifestyle.

 Early Years Learning Framework Outcome 3: Children have a


strong sense of wellbeing.
 Child’s emotional and social wellbeing.
 Responsible for own health and physical wellbeing.
 National Law and National Regulations underpin the elements of
this quality standard.

 The role of the educator or supervisor:


 Help children foster healthy living responsibilities.
 Protect children from foreseeable risks.
 Support the right that every child has to safety and protection
from any harm.

Important to assist children in taking responsibility for their own health


because:
 Contributes to concentration, cooperation, learning, success and
engagement.
 Health requirements change over time.

How?
 Possessing effective processes that support all aspects of children's
health.
Standard 2.2: Safety

Child has the right to be kept safe when in education and care services. This
is important because:
 Negative impacts upon physical health and wellbeing leads to negative
effects on experiences, learning and wellbeing in the present and future.
 Good relationships/network build confidence, feelings and optimism.

How?
 Possessing effective processes that support all aspects of children's
health.

 Children's health and safety is for educators to safeguard whilst


ensuring they are prioritising all children's health and safety to
essentially minimise the potential risks of harm, injury and
infection that may arise within the school environment. 

 That all children are entitled to the right to experience a high


quality education and care in an environment that provides for
both their physical and psychological wellbeing.
