The modern metric system of measurement, is the
internationally recognized standard measuring system.

Liquids are measured in liter (L) and milliliter (mL).


Solids are measured in kilogram (kg) and gram (G). The
rest of the items could be measured by counting.

Measuring Ingredients
1. Use clean and correct measuring cups
2. In measuring dry ingredients such as flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder, fill the
measuring cup or spoon from the package of the ingredient to be used
3. Use a spatula the edge of a knife to level off the ingredient in the measuring cup or
spoon. Be careful not to press in the ingredients that would settle into the measuring
cup or spoon.
4. Some ingredients need to be packed such as brown sugar. Pack into the measuring
cup just enough of the ingredients to hold its shape when turned out of the measuring
cup. Level it off with a spatula before emptying the measuring cup
5. Grated cheese should also be lightly pack to avoid gaps in the
middle of the measuring cup to make an accurate measurement.
6. In measuring liquid ingredients set the liquid measuring cup on a
level surface where you can read the measurement at eye level and
not from the top.
7. Avoid measuring ingredients over a bowl that has an ingredients in it
as well. If ever you overpour the ingredients, the measurement will
not be accurate
8. When sticky ingredients such as honey or syrup are to be measure,
grease the measuring cup or spoon with oil first as doing as helps
the ingredients come out of the measuring cup or spoon more easily.
9. Press down light ingredients such as shortening and sour cream
using a spoon or the edge of a knife to prevent pockets of air from
entering.
10. Using a rubber spatula, try to get all the ingredients out of the
measuring cup or slightly tap the cup to get all the contents out of
it
